I had to be away from our house for the holidays and chose to bring our cat with us. He’s been sleeping in our room but doesn’t seem to be peeing or pooping. How long can the cat go without using the bathroom?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Usually about 24 hours is possible. It is very important to make sure that you have a litter box or two available with the type of litter that he likes and is used to. Sometimes this can be observed in times of stress or when adjusting to a new environment. Make sure that you have this available and monitor him for the next few hours and it is very likely that he will go. Good luck!

Hi, and thanks for your question. Mild constipation that lasts no more than two days can usually be resolved at home with increased fiber and hydration. Canned pumpkin (not pie filling, just the straight-up pumpkin) or liquid paraffin can be used, and should work straight away in the following 8 hours from administration. DO NOT TRY to give an enema as it could be dangerous and cause electrolyte imbalances and colon perforation. If constipation lasts more than 24 hours from administration of those or 48 hours in general, a check up at your local vet is required. You are better off giving him Miralax powder. The psyllium is a fiber that will bulk up the stools but it isn't really a laxative/stool softener.
