I would look to foods that are "light" NOT weight management. Science diet has a great over the counter light diet. Also, you could talk to your vet about a prescription diet food which really helps them lose weight while still keeping them full. Keep up the good work on the exercise! I hope this helps!

The Internet says a lot of things. Petfood is one of those issues that people can have a lot of convictions about. However the question is have those individuals had actual training about pet nutrition. In making choices about pet food, I often look at a history of recalls. Newer pet food companies and boutique brands are more likely to have recall issues because they tend to not have as much quality control in the production of their food. Mistakes do happen and any company can have a recall but that is something to pay very close attention to. The older, more established companies tend to have good protocols in place to catch any errors before their food gets out on the shelves and pets get sick. I believe Nutro does offer a line of pet food that is more holistically-based as well. You should be able to find a lot of variety within the brand and know that it is all high-quality. Most pets who eat Nutro tend to have good coat and stool quality too, this is a good sign. I hope this is

Hello and welcome to Boop by Petco. Firstly, good for you to get on top of Sydney's weight, once you get the weight under control Sydney will feel so much better! There are a few different products made for weight management, some of the best/most effective ones are the prescription diets. I personally like Hill's weight management diet, because the animals feel full but are getting less calories, and it also has joint support products in the food as well. You can try any company weight management food however, as any will work as long as you don't over-feed it. The best trick for this is to get a measuring up that is the amount you need to feed when it is FULL. Therefore you won't be tempted to 'just give a tiny bit more'. Measure the food out, and make sure everyone knows that Sydney is on a diet and doesn't get any treats! Remember, exercise is also important, to protect the knees in the start, try swimming with Sydney, it is great for the muscles and easy on the joints. Regul

Needing to gain weight. Feeds limited ingredient food, Nutro. 2 cups twice a day. DX of IBS. Is this enough food?
Foods have very different calorie contents so it’s difficult to knownif 2 cups twice daily is enough since there are several different limited ingredient foods by Nutro. I calculate up to 1400 kCal per day for an active 45 lb dog - she might need more or less depending on her weight. You also might want to check in with your vet and see what they think her ideal body weight would be.
