Hopefully it is the same medication, although there have been lawsuits about mislabeled and counterfeit medications with online pharmacies. Also, you do need a prescription from your veterinarian in order to purchase these products. I would recommend visiting with your veterinarian, as there is a possibility they may price match for you. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! I treat bacterial skin infections with oral antibiotics, medicated baths that get bacteria (miconazole just gets yeast) and since this is chronic I would recommend a prescription novel protein or hydrolyzed diet to rule out food allergies as the cause. I would also start an oral antihistamine and Omega 3 fish oils. I tell my clients with chronic allergies to expect to be on apoquel, a special diet, an antihisamine and Omega 3 fish oils for the rest of the pets life. If there is a pustule (white head) the Vet can culture that to be sure that the correct antibiotic is chosen. It takes 3 weeks or longer to clear a bacterial skin infection with the correct antibiotic, this requires you to follow up with your vet to be sure the infection is 100% gone before the antibiotic is stopped. The links below are some recommendations for products. I also like Nordic Naturals as an Omega 3 option I wish Lola Blue the best! https://www.vrshealth.com/canine-produc

You can try this medicated spray once or twice a day on the affected areas. If after a week or so it is not looking better then he may need antibiotics to clear it up. It is really difficult for me to comment much when I haven't seen him myself. https://www.allivet.com/p-6677-douxo-chlorhexidine-micro-emulsion-spray-for-dogs-and-cats-68-oz.aspx?SearchTerm=duoxo+Auto

Poor puppy. I would highly recommend asking your vet for prescription ointment for him as well, becuase nothing over the counter is going to help with this unfortunately. I would recommmend asking for either topical Mupirocin (prefered) or Resortin ointment. You can also apply a cold compress on the area for a few minutes, if tolerated, to help with some of the inflammation and pain. If he seems particularly painful, then a pain medication (Tramadol) can also be prescribed by your vet. I hope that your puppy feels better soon and is able to make a full and speedy recovery from Puppy Strangles. Best wishes and take care!

It sounds like you may need a prescription strength medicine to help your dog become more comfortable. Your vet will need to examine your dog to ensure they are otherwise healthy (and to start a valid client/ patient/ vet relationship to legally dispense medicine) and then will decide which medicine would work best. There are newer products such as Apoquel and Cytopoint which may be appropriate. Your vet may also suggest an eye ointment to apply. You are welcome to request a consultation with one of the Boop by Petco veterinarians to prepare for your vet visit.
