It's great that you want to be prepared for your new kitten! Aside from the obvious things for the kitten like food and water bowls, I'd recommend a tall scratching post and perch. Two litter boxes in different areas of the house are recommended. Canned kitten food (and canned adult cat food as Myla gets older) is preferred over dry food. It's great that you want to make sure Mia is happy! Cats need at least one litterbox per cat plus one extra to help reduce stress associated with the litterbox. They should be placed in separate rooms, away from the food and water bowls, must be scooped at least daily (preferably multiple times a day) and washed out at least weekly with a mild soap, followed by thorough rinsing. Cats need a lot of space to explore, but keeping them indoors is much safer than letting them outside, due to the risk of injury from cars, wildlife, other animals, etc. The key is providing space (particularly vertical space for climbing, such as cat trees, ledges, and the like) inside the home. Visit http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=T&C=33&S=2 , healthcareforpets.com and https://indoorpet.osu.edu// for tips on stress reduction. Also look into Feliway, a synthetic pheromone that is available in a diffuser and spray form that promotes calm feelings in cats http://www.feliway.com . See the link

Hello and welcome to Boop by Petco. Although animals do like company, they also can be very happy as single pets. If Scout seems happy, don't feel pressured to get a second cat. Scout should go to a vet as soon as you can make an appointment as he is likely behind on vaccines/worming if he hasn't had any since you got him. Neuter is recommended at 6 months of age. Otherwise just make sure you have scratching posts, litter tray, food and water. Best of luck with Scout!

He looks beautiful. Most cats love crumpled paper balls! But you can try the fuzzy mice that are available from a pet store or get one of the angling toys (a stick with an attached string and a fetherball at the end). You can also make a feather toy for him by gathering a lot of feathers, tying them together and throwing it. Anotehr great toy is a ball into which you can put dry food. The ball has a few holes and as he plays with it the food falls out. once he figures out how it works, it is a great toy. (But my cats still like the small crumpled paper balls best.....)
