Joey is a 2.5 year old 98lbs German shepherd, Rottweiler, pit mix, is he a large or giant breed? Are there any dietary benefits I should belooking for in his food?
I would say Joey is a large breed dog based on his mix of breeds. I recommend feeing him a high quality large breed dog food. These foods will have joint support, which is great for bigger dogs. Brands I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. I hope this helps!

Choose a good quality food with a named protein source. Avoid meat meals and by products. Stay away from store or discount brands. These typically contain low quality ingredients an dmore fillers. A "large breed" formula would be recommended. Premium brands include the Royal Canin line, Acana, Canidae and Orijen. The website www.dogfoodadvisor.com is an excellent resource for comparing foods.

Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your concern. In my opinion, Purina is not a terrible food and I include that in my list of food recommendations. If Rex has been doing ok on the food for a while now with no problems, then I would keep him on the same food. I would consider switching only if he begins to have problems with digestion. If you want to change food brands, I also recommend Science Diet, Royal Canin or Natural Balance. I hope this helps! What high quality dry dog food would you recommend for my 95lb Doberman/ mastiff? He cannot have chicken or beef.
I would look into Nautral Balance Venison and Sweet Potato formula. This is a limited ingredient diet that isn't too high in protein. Foods that are too high in protein can actually cause issues with bladder crystals and bladder stones. I hope this helps!

Large breed puppies have specific nutritional needs that have to be met or else they run the risk of developing improperly and have joint issues their entire lives.
