That sounds like a good plan for the first couple of days of Lucy being home to help keep everyone safe. See the links below for more information, and congratulations on the new addition! https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=8569058 https://indoorpet.osu.edu/dogs/new_additions_dogs/intro-dog-cat

I wouldn't be surprised if a canine DNA test showed some Beagle or Dachshund in there somewhere. You will likely never truly know, but she is adorable. You can get a basic DNA test online or at the local Petco. A simple cheek swab submitted for analysis may provide at least an idea of what Lucy is. Good on you for adopting her!

I am going to assume Lucy is a dog, as I do not have that information here. My best advice is to bathe Lucy less frequently. Baths actually strip the natural oils in a dog's skin, which help maintain a healthy coat. If Lucy does get dirty on an outing and requires a bath, try to reward her when she is still and praise her verbally. Tell her "good girl" , "calm girl" and reward her calm moments. I would also try letting her air dry rather then blow drying her. The loud noise may be frightening her, due to her sensitive hearing. This is a great option for keeping Lucy still while you try to bathe her, it has built in restraints; http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=20500

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Boop by Petco. It looks like Lucy may have a wound or a cut on her foot that is bleeding, which should be evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as you can get her there. A veterinarian can shave the fur from the area and examine the wound, and determine if it needs to be sutured or if it is something that will heal on its own. The vet can also prescribe antibiotics to help reduce the risk of infection, and pain medications to help Lucy feel better and in less pain. Please do not give any pain medications that are intended for humans to Lucy, as these can be fatally toxic to dogs. In the meantime, you can try gently wiping the area with a damp paper towel if Lucy will allow it to try to remove any debris. I hope this is helpful!

Hi and thanks for posting on Boop by Petco! What you described about Lucy sounds serious. Fever can certainly cause malfunctions in the brain to occur, including seizures, mobility problems, and loss of consciousness. Lucy will need to see her veterinarian ASAP. Taking her to a 24 hour emergency veterinary clinic may be a good idea especially if Lucy's regular veterinarian is closed today or is booked. There can be many reasons for what Lucy is experiencing. She will need a full work up with a veterinarian which may include blood work, x-rays, ultrasound, or other diagnostic tests as needed to help determine what the cause is. Best wishes and I hope this helps.
