Great question! You want a high quality food, and typically you won't find those at a supermarket. Those are lower quality foods made from poorer ingredients, which is why they are cheaper. Iams and Purina ProPlan are both high quality foods that are cheaper than Hill's Science diet. I recommend feeding Reno a puppy formulated food from one of those two brands. I hope this helps :-)

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Sharon is beautiful! I agree he looks like mostly husky but not pure bred. I would think he could have white German Shepherd or Spitz if his tail curls. Sadly we may never know and everyone likely has a different opinion! I hope this helps!

I didn't answer your original post about Minnie, but yes it would be the Hill's prescription diet. There isn't a specific favor that is best to use for her weight loss, so I wouldn't be worried about that. As for walking three to four times a day, because it's so hot in Arizona, I would not do this. She could get heatstroke, which is very deadly. I recommend walking her twice a day, once early in the morning and later in the evening when it cools down. Gradually make the walks longer to make up for only walking her twice a day. I hope this helps!

Kellie is so cute! In a 14 year old dog I would recommend an exam and blood work to rule out any medical conditions like kidney disease or diabetes. If normal, she could have some dementia or brain aging. If so there is no test or treatment. I would recommend a new Purina diet called BrightMinds (I'm not sure it's available in the U.K.) which may help slow the brain aging effects. I would also talk to your vet about melatonin supplements. It may not work but if it does it could help settle her. Also, discuss arthritis medications with your vet. She could be uncomfortable and it's causing her to be restless. Good luck and kisses to Kellie!

Hill's i/d is an intestinal diet that is easy for a dog to digest. There are other intestinal diets that might be less expensive, like Science Diet sensitive stomach. Ask your vet for his/her recommendation for a more affordable diet before deciding to change. Also, ask your vet if you could just add extra fiber to your dogs diet, like some canned pumpkin.
