Dog: A commercial diet food such as Royal Canin, Hill's Science diet, Purina ProPlan, or Iams. It's best to feed a dog a high quality commercial diet because it is extremely difficult to get the correct balance of nutrients a dog needs to be healthy. A dog should have as much water as they want, and it's best to have a source of fresh water available at all times. Cat: As with cats, a commercial diet is best. Cats are obligate carnivores, and they have to have specific levels of protein as well as essential amino acids in order to be healthy. Cats should never be fed a vegetarian diet as that is fatal to them. I'd recommend a high quality cat food such as Royal Canin, Hill's Science diet, Purina ProPlan, or Iams. As with dogs, cats should have access to a source of fresh water at all times. Horse: Horses have specific dietary needs because they are herbivores and have a long digestive track. Hi there and thanks for using Boop by Petco! My first worry with older horses is their dentition (teeth). If you have never had your horse's teeth floated, it may be time for that. Lost teeth, impactions of feed, uneven wear, etc can all affect how much and how comfortably your mare eats. Your vet can perform this, after an initial exam. Best pulp can be good to put some weight on them, if it's a simple caloric factor. Last but not least, if you haven't dewormed in a while-consider taking in a fecal sample to your veterinarian to be checked. These simple things I try to take care of first, I hope this helps you!

Hello again! I’m now a vet on a meatworks plant, so I’m the perfect person to answer this. Cats and dogs are never used in pet food, but horses can be used. So can deer, ostriches, goats, and bison among other mammals. I hope this helps!

Hi Diana, I have not yet tried the Nylabone Healthy Edibles with my dogs, but I just looked at the ingredients and think they might be a nice treat for Joey. Certainly, I always recommend monitoring a dog with any edible chew because they will sometimes bite off too large of a chunk, but I suspect that will be less of a problem with the Healthy Edibles than some of the other chew options on the market. If Joey has a problem with allergies, my favorite chews are Honest Kitchen Beams (https://www.thehonestkitchen.com/beams?gclid=Cj0KEQjwmK3OBRDKjN-L55---_UBEiQAOL6t1ONBCfGAKhdZ3BxXNOpy4Q4FLZFPR0lX79hOaIj9CO0aApIM8P8HAQ) and Sam's Yams (sweet potato treats). I hope that was helpful! Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

If you are sure the horse will eat all of the feed with the paste, you can add it. However it would be better to directly give the paste into the mouth as it is a very expensive medication and your horse needs the full dose appropriate for its weight. Giving the paste directly into the mouth, then holding the mouth shut for a few seconds will ensure the paste is swallowed. If you are not sure how it is done, ask some of the barn mates to help you dose your horse.
