Hello and thank you for reaching out to Boop by Petco. Flies are attracted to foul-smelling things, such as feces or other organic material, ie fluid or tissue from a wild animal. If Dottie has flies that bother her, she may just need a good bath using a dog-safe shampoo to remove any material or smells that are attracting flies. If you are concerned about FLEAS, a bath may help, but ultimately Dottie will need either a topical or oral medications to prevent and kill fleas. These should be purchased from your veterinarian (as many over-the-counter flea medications are not effective and may actually be harmful to your dog). I hope this is helpful!

I suggest you take Stormi to one of our VETCO clinics inside Petco to consult with the vet there. If the Seresto collar is not working he probably needs something stronger like one of the new oral flea pills (Bravecto, Nexgard or Simparica). ( vetcoclinics.com/services-and-clinics/clinic-locations-and-schedules/?zip=70808 ) As for treating the house, I don't know what product you used but I suggest using Knockout Spray E.S. It is the only one I think really works. ( https://www.allivet.com/p-1389-knockout-es-area-treatment.aspx?SearchTerm=knockou+Auto ) If you have a yard I suggest you treat the yard too. I can give you a flea treatment program for Daisy, and you can get them from 1800 Pet Meds without a prescription. First, I would give her Capstar. It's a one time pill that starts killing fleas within 30 minutes. Then follow up with a spot on treatment, like Advantage ll. This is a treatment that has to be used once a month. You will also have to disinfect the environment. Wash her bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

The main control point for flea allergy is to prevent any and all flea bites as well as treating any areas of damaged and potentially infected skin created from severe scratching. A product with rapid onset of action or flea repellant is recommended - bravecto tablets, frontline and advantix are all useful, in some cases combinations may also be required. Treatment of the house and bedding areas initially with a household insecticidal spray is also required as only 5-10% of the flea burden is actually present as adult fleas on yur pet at any one time and it is important to treat all aspects of the problem. Regimental use of flea protection products and strict complciance with any application recommendations such as timng in relation to shampooing/swimming etc is required also going forward
