I typically recommend the following: 1. Welactin omega 3 fish oil for cats 2. Cosequin for cats 3. Duralactin paste 4. Dasuquin for cats Any of these will be great supplements to use. You can use the Welactin and Duralactin together along with either Dasuqin or Cosequin (not both). I hope this helps! If Stella is in a lot of pain from arthritis, she may need more than supplementation and more along the lines of pain medication to reduce inflammation and pain. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. I am also available via consultation if needed.

Calming supplements containing typtophan and b vitamins such as kalm aid can be very helpful in such cases, as can acupuncture although in many cases we do not know the exact cause, any relief of symptoms is positive

I'm sorry Kitters isn't feeling well. And I certainly understand being overwhelmed. Allergies are definitely no fun. The apoquel stops the itching, but isn't actually a steroid, and don't have to be used long term (although it can be). For the food, if the food helps her, she'll actually need to stay on it long term to keep seeing the effect. No need to bathe her or apply any ointments (unless your vet prescribed something, but that would be unusual). I would also recommend talking to your vet about price concerns. There may be a lower cost hypoallergenic food she could be on, or she could try steroids instead of apoquel if the apoquel is expensive (although steroids have MANY more side effects). There are always options, so don't hesitate to share your concerns now that you've had some time to process.

I would also like to add that sourcing is a big issue for supplements. Apart from the palatabity, some companies are better than others. If you choose this route, make sure you speak with someone in a supplement specialty store about reputation. Since there is no governing body for supplements, contaminants are possible.

Poor girl. There is a natural anti-anxiety medication that you can try first before resorting to stronger anxiety medication from your vet. The product is called Zylkene and is available on Amazon.com. Ask your vet if this is appropriate for your pet Sabre to try to reduce her anxiety so that she can continue receiving her much needed treatment for kidney failure. I would also encourage you , if you have not done so already, to keep her on her kidney prescription diet, which is the mainstay treatment for pets with kidney failure. Best of luck with your pet Sabre and I hope that she can relax soon and take her treatments with less anxiety. Take care!
