My cat recently went to the vet and she has a uti and Crystal's. They put her on the royal canines prescription cat food for UTI. I wont be able to afford it and the bnb ingredients aren't the best. Is there something I can give her after the prescr
In mild cases, any wet food may be sufficient to keep the urine suitably dilute to prevent recurrence but i would recommend 6weeks of the specialist urinary wet food to stabilise and maximise recovery. If symptoms recur then i would recommend urinary food only thereafter

What is the difference between Royal Canine Urinary S/O and Royal Canine Urinary Care for cats? My male cat had crystals some time ago.
From Royal Canin's website: "This diet is only suitable for healthy adult cats that do not have a urinary issue or a history of urinary problems. This food is not a replacement for a diet prescribed by your veterinarian." If Elbi has already had a urinary problem, I don't recommend considering switching to the urinary care food. Urinary S/O is designed to encourage more drinking, as well as neutralize the pH of the urine - both of those together tend to almost completely eliminate the chances of crystals forming.

Wellness, Weruva and Royal Canin are all good choices. When it comes to a canned food, look for one with a named protein source of animal (not plant) origin. Choose a food that comes from the can looking like a hockey puck. Avoid foods with gravies or sauces. These are typically higher in carbs which can predispose a cat to obesity. Avoid meat meals, by-products as well as store or discount brands. These latter two contain low quality ingredients and more fillers.

Yes, I personally like Royal Canin diets. For her age, just the regular Adult food is fine. Canned food can be very expensive if that is all you are feeding. You can also feed a combination of both wet and dry if you'd like. Feed her according to the directions on the packaging. If you do both wet and dry you need to make sure you don't overfeed her. She is already at her maximum weight so if you notice weight gain you will need to back off on how much you are feeding.

Hi. Which brand of food do you recommend for a cat? I have a two year old spayed female dsh cat. I used royal at first and I used sanabel for a while. Now I use josera catelux but I heard that it's not a good food and super premium foods are better.
Brands of food I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. I feed my cat Iams and they love it. You can feed Miu a urinary care food, just not a prescription one. Those are formulated specifically for cats with existing urinary problems.
