Try enticing her with toys and treats. Catnip may also work. A pheromone product such as Feliway Spray or plug in diffuser may decrease any anxiety or stress. Consider an exam with your veterinarian to diagnose illness or injury if the behavior persists.

Some vets can sedate cats and then groom them or even clip them short so that you don’t need to worry about brushing as frequently. You could also try a pheromone diffuser or spray like Feliway if it’s available near you but it may not be quite enough to get the job done.

Poor girl. This happens even to the best nail trimmers. He only thing that will successfully stop a bleeding nail every time is an over the counter Kwik Stop styptic powder from your local pet store. It is good that it has stopped bleeding; however, I would pick up some of this powder from the store first thing in the morning. Otherwise, place newspaper in the litter box tonight and monitor it until you go to bed. A light bandage can also be tried; however, cats in particular won't allow a bandage to stay in place. Hopefully things have stabilized for now and she will continue to do well until morning. Most of these nail bleeding situations are fine and don't result in serious complications (i.e. anemia). Best wishes and take care.

Yes, but if you've never done it before then have your veterinarian or groomer show you how. Nails can be trimmed using small nail clippers for birds or cats. Trim just the points, avoiding the blood vessel (quick) within. Use a concrete perch or sanded perch wraps to maintain length.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! You could use a nail file to try to keep them more rounded and blunt as opposed to being sharp. There are even some nail files for dogs that are automatic and quite effective. You may find these online or at your local pet store. Good luck!
