Congratulations on your new pup! You can visit the following link for training tips and how to deal with common behaviour issues http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=T&C=33&S=1 also try Adaptil, a calming pheromone that can help reduce anxiety in puppies and dogs www.adaptil.com . Training is still needed with all puppies and dogs, and enrolling Sitka in a puppy training class is a good way to help socialize him correctly in a safe environment. You can also find a trainer who can do sessions with you at home if scheduling is an issue for training classes. Neutering is also a good idea to help reduce roaming, marking behaviour, humping and aggression. Good luck.

I am so very sorry to hear that Bruno is experiencing these changes to his voice. I am sure it is unsettling for you both. Unfortunately there are a range of causes for such a change including infections of the respiratory tract or lungs, kennel cough, foreign bodies trapped within the respiratory tract, pathologies of the trachea, diseases of the nerves supplying the area, as well as some cancers. Since you only began to notice the change a day ago, I would continue to monitor at home for another 24 hours. If the change does not correct itself, I would schedule an appointment with your veterinarian. They will perform a physical exam and run diagnostic tests to determine the cause of the voice change. These tests could include chest X-rays, blood work and possibly endoscopy. Unless Bruno is having trouble breathing, coughs up any foam, or seems very down and depressed, then you need to take him in immediately to see a veterinarian. Eating fast is ok. Gobbling food in 10 seconds flat is not ok. I am being a little silly, but if you think that Hazel is eating too fast, there is nothing wrong with getting a special bowl to slow her down!

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach. If Sherlock is fearful and aggressive towards strangers, it is going to be too difficult to train him before the holidays as training takes time. If you are going to have people over then I would keep him in a separate room or a crate. I would also recommend using a product called NaturVet Quiet Moments with Melatonin for dogs. You can find these at your local pet store or online. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Poor Misty, I understand this must be very concerning for you! I know you want to wait until tomorrow, and that could be absolutely fine and she may simply be taking a bit of an infection or general upset. However, with basset hounds and any sort of laboured breathing I always worry about a condition in their stomach called bloat or torsion, also referred to as GD or GDV. Unfortunately bassets are predisposed to this horrible condition and it is a medical emergency. I really hope this is not what is going on with Misty, but if it is she needs immediate treatment. You could watch her and see if she starts to settle, but if she is deteriorating, becoming very lethargic, struggling to breathe or her belly is increasing in size I would go to the vet asap.
