If he has pustules then he may need to be on an antibiotic again to treat an infection. Atopica can cause side effects in some dogs and if you dog is experiencing negative side effects then you could talk to your vet about switching to a new allergy medication called Apoquel. I have used it on may dogs and it seems to work very well with minimal side effects.

Hi been giving my dog atopica but she keeps being sick with it is it ok to give with food as I have been giving it on an empty stomach up to now ?
Atopica works most effectively when given on an empty stomach. That said, I have recommended to some patients to initially give it with food until some of the GI upset has resolved, knowing that the medication will not be as effective. Once the GI signs resolve, we then give it on an empty stomach. You should speak with your vet before trying this approach. I hope Lily is able to tolerate her Atopica and feel better soon!

Is Atopica recommend for IBD in a Labrador, when EOS is elevated?
Usually steroids are used to treat IBD, together with hypoallergenic diet. Theoretically Atopica can be used as well for refractory cases, but it is not certainly a first line option medication. What can I buy over the counter for atopy for a dog?
Some OTC antihistamines (diphenhydramine, loratidine, chlorpheniramine, etc.) may provide relief. Prescription drugs, such as Atopica or Apoquel, may be more effective. These last two would need to be dispensed by your veterinarian. Never medicate your pet without the advice of your vet.

My 2 year old itches alot, he is rid of fleas I give him treatment for that but he still scratches and knaws at his skin. Is Atopica good to give to him to treat this problem? I give him children's Benadryl but it doesn't help him.
If the itching has an allergic component, Atoica may help. You should have Titus examined by your veterinarian to diagnose the underlying cause. It could be parasites (mites or fleas). Even one flea bite n a sensitive dog can cause a severe reaction. It may also be dry skin, infection (bacterial or fungal), food sensitivities or an endocrine imbalance. Discuss allergy testing, hydrolyzed diets and food elimination trials with your vet. A different antihistamine may be more effective. In the meantime, place an e-collar on Titus to prevent excessive licking or chewing. A tee shirt or onesie may prevent scratching.
