Thanks for reaching out about your aquarium. Sorry not very good at botany but there should be tropical fish clubs that might help in identification. But comments about your tank. First, not sure if light penetration will be good for a plant that low in the water column. Secondly, the balanced rock formation looks tenuous, and might fall. Good luck.

i have a question, we recently got glofish as a gift to my mother. I bought the water conditioner, food, plants and a volcano to decorate the tank, its a 5 gallon tank so they would have alot of room to swim. But all 5 fish, just stay at the bottom
Thanks for your question about your fish, and congratulations on your new family members! I didn't see how recently the tank was set up, but there are a couple of things that could be going on. I would start by checking your water quality - any abnormalities in water quality can make fish have abnormal behaviors, and the water looks a bit murky in the photos you provided. There may be parameters that need to be addressed depending on what you find. If you do not have a water quality kit, they can be purchased at the pet store or an aquarium store, or you can take a sample of your water in for evaluation to these places as well. Some will charge a small fee for this service, just so you are prepared. Also, with recent tank set ups, it can be stressful for fish as they are in a new habitat. I would recommend keeping the light on for only a few hours per day to start, as the bright lights can be shocking for them (since fish don't have eyelids). Gradually you can increase the length of t

Hi, and thanks for your question. Begin by submitting a water sample for quality testing. Most pet stores will do this for free or a nominal fee. Clinical examination should always include a water quality check, even if you have done so already. Water testing should be performed with a quality test kit, measuring NH4, NO2 and NO3. High ammonia levels, PH imbalances may be responsible for these signs. Oxygen concentration and quality of the filters should be determined as well. If water quality is good and there are no major imbalances, your fish should get examined to look for any sign of bacterial/fungal infection and eventually water should be treated. Thanks for reaching out. the ride home should not be too difficult but when introducing to the tank, equilibrate water temperatures first by placing the bag in the tank for 15-20 minutes. Then pour out 1/2 of bag water in the sink, then add that volume of tank water to the bag. Allow to stand for 10-15 minutes. The scoop out fish and add to tank. Don't pour bag water into tank and if parasites in water, will add more of them to tank. Finish cycling tank prior to getting fish. Good luck.

All of my fish died after using a product purchased at Petco called ACUREL-F. How do I get their water safe to put in new fish?
