Use a reptile hood or clamp lamp fixture only. Make sure hood clamp lamp has a ceramic fixture base for halogen lamp to screw into (no plastic fixtures). Only operate lamp 8-12 hours per day giving your animals an appropriate "photoperiod" (i.e. day and night cycle). Do not allow combustible materials to come in contact with the lamp (i.e. curtains, clothes, etc.). For reptile use only. If outer glass breaks, do not touch any part of the bulb even if the bulb continues to light. Immediately turn power off and let bulb cool.

Is this a UVB light?
- The Turtle Tuff which has been renamed the Repti Tuff bulb does not provide UVB, only heat and UVA.

Can this work for things like tortoises? Does it have to be aquatic?
- Hi Ax0lotl, This Zoo Med's Turtle Tuff Splashproof Halogen Light is designed for all aquatic turtle aquarium set-ups where high humidity or accidental water splashing could cause a regular heat lamp to fail or shatter but yes, this may also be used for tortoises. Thanks

What is the best way to heat hedgehog cage with lamp?
My red eared slider is not basking even though I brought a uvb light for her just like one of the pet coach vets told me because he has soft shell.I place the light on top of a Zilla screen cover but she still don't get on.I can't really dry dock her because I have a hood for my uvb light.How can I make her to bask and is the Zilla cover okay for her?

I found a baby turtle upside-down in a puddle about the size of a plate. He was barely moving, and there was no creek within a few miles. I took him in and got a 10 gallon tank. I went to a creek and got some water from that, and some little rocks and made a habitat. I got a best lamp as well. What should I do? Should I keep him and care for him? Also, what should I feed him? I sent some pics to tell size and type.
I have an Indian roofed turtle it has white patches on its top shell and also it has (fungus colour) green coloured patches on starting and ending of the top shell the pattern of on its bottom shell is also fading from a spot , maybe it is shedding its skin from there.I keep the turtle in a tub with normal water and and I keep it in my room I also give him 1 to 2 hours for basking in the sun . I live in Delhi where average temperature nowadays is 27-32C and it is monsoon here . Pls help.

I am not sure of my turtles age. I have had her for 3 yrs. Dosen't seem to be growing and I'm concerned about the underneath shell. Looks like it is splitting. She is in a 10 gal tank always by the window for sun. Is the tank to small? She eats well, super worms, tomatoes, grapes and strawberries some lettuce.

I have everything needed like the basking area, uvb light bulb, heat bulb, and good water temperature. Recently one of my turtles started sleeping all day and would not swim at all. How can I treat infections under Cooper's scutes?Do I scrub her or soak her because how am I suppose to get the betadine under her scutes if I don't soak her?Also I noticed the heat lamp is making the water warm because I put it in front where the water is.Now I put the heat lamp in the back and the UVB in front buy Cooper still be able to get UVB because the UVB is now in front directly above the water and not her dock?If I move the heat lamp in front it will make the water warm.UVB is the hood

He has been with me ever since i was 5 and i never took care of it as much until now that im older and i have its lamp and heater and clean water and everything but i jus still dont know what to give him for food.
