Use a reptile hood or clamp lamp fixture only. Make sure hood/clamp lamp has a ceramic fixture base for halogen lamp to screw into (no plastic fixtures). Only operate lamp 8-12 hours per day giving your animals an appropriate "photoperiod" (i.e: day/night cycle). Do not allow combustible materials to come in contact with the lamp (i.e: curtains, clothes, etc.). For reptile use only. If outer glass breaks, do not touch any part of the bulb even if the bulb continues to light. Immediately turn power off and let bulb cool.

Is it a UVA and UVB bulb? Or is it just a UVA bulb?
- No, it is UVA and heat only. UVB-producing bulbs include fluorescent tubes, CFLs, metal halide, and mercury-vapor.

What kind of lighting does a red eared slider need, I tried to look it up online but I get confused with all the types of lights... Please help!!!!!!!

My turtle shell has some brown spots and some of he corners of his scutes are brown and peeling. His lines on his shell are also brown. He does have a uvb and heat lamp.
I have a turtle I got as a hatchling whose shell has started to curve. I’ve read this could be due to too much protein, too weak of uv/uvb lights, or a combination that makes him grow too fast for the shell to keep up.
