I JUST got the ZooMed Chameleon Kit that came with this light- before 24hrs of use I heard a crack/sizzle so I went to investigate and saw the light smoking! I’m so thankful I was home to turn it off. It could have killed my chameleon and burned the house down. I’m disappointed that they would sell this as it’s so dangerous.

Not what I needed

The sales associate recommended this light with the tank he recommended. I unfortunately it has to be 10 inches away from the tortoise but the tank is 24 inches to the screen. I had to buy another light system for this tank.

Seems to work wonderfully! Wish there was an option for colorless bulb, though.

Buy the dome separate and buy some quality lights

Your better off just buying the dome light separate. The heat lamp that came with it shot within one day. Currently use a ceramic heat element with the dome and works well. The uvb light is not bright at all. That’s not a con as most uvb lights are not bright so you will need to by another led light if you really want to light up your terrarium. So in all. It’s better to buy the dome and pay a little more for better bulbs because either way your still going to have to replace the bulbs in the kit within a week.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Great for heating and a plant bulb

This item is great if you have a tropical reptile like a chameleon. But, I would highly advise not to use the bulbs that come with it but a white bulb from a department store and a plant bulb instead, and to also buy a separate UVB hood to fit over your terrarium.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I have a mini duo deep dome lamp. I’m getting a baby bearded dragon and keeping it in a 24 gallon tank. Would a 100w Arcadia halogen bulb be too big for my tank size? And will 100W halogen be too hot? Would a 75W bulb be a better pick?

  1. with a 24-gallon tank make sure you have a good thermometer in the tank to monitor the temperature. The mini combo deep dome can handle either a 100 watt or 75-watt halogen bulb without a problem. What will determine the bulb you need to use is the temperature you are getting in the tank. A bearded dragon needs a basking spot directly under the heat lamp of 95-105 degrees F.

can this be used for leopard geckos?

Can chameleons use this it shows a chameleon on the front, but a review said the bulb was not strong enough.

    1. Yes , despite some claims The 5.0 UV bulb is exactly what’s recommended for chameleons within the 4 to 7 inch range of basking . Though reading some reviews you’ll get a wider spectrum from a 5.0 T 50 and this UVb has more of a direct smaller range it’s great for smaller cages

Can you use this for a giant day gecko?

    1. you can use a daylight blue heat bulb, or a basking lamp. Either way, it's fine.

Can this be used for Green tree frogs or red eye tree frogs?
