Defective glass

New snake

I think the glass in these tanks is defective. I went through exchanging and getting three different tanks, and they all had spidery cracks coming from at least one corner. The cracks were filled with sealant, so I believe they came from the factory this way. I don’t know if I’m going to exchange it for something else at this point, but what a hassle lugging this back and forth.

No, I do not recommend this product.

The kit itself is fine, but needs to be re-marketed. The screen lid is soft and flimsy... my ball python escaped less than 5 minutes after I put him in it. The fact that they sold me this WITH him makes it more frustrating because there's no way they didn't know this isn't suitable for snakes. He simply pushed the screen until it ripped, and it honestly didn't take much pressure... my corn snake could have done the same. Save yourself the time, money and hassle.

Quality of the tank itself is ok, but the lid is very flimsy and not at all what I would recommend for a snake. The “locks” for the lid are two pins that slide into holes in the lid and prevent the lid from being pushed open. But a snake can easily reach them if they’re big enough and push the pins out. If you purchase this kit, I highly recommend investing in a set of lid clips to lock it in place.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Great for baby snakes - Does need Updated Items

I have gotten this tank kit a couple of times. Although some of the items are outdated in terms of care or only work well for dryer species, the pins and sliding lid make this the most escape proof enclosure I've used for several species of baby snakes. These are well built too, none of the enclosures I bought broke, but I do suggest buying in store as glass enclosures are notorious for breaking in shipping process. The store I bought mine from was a local reptile store and they allowed me to remove any items in the kit I knew I wouldn't need. I suggest you do the same for any items you don't plan to use. The 4 stars is for the kit having items that don't really suit a snake, and lacking others. You will want to remove the thermometer they include and actually get a thermostat that will plug into the heat mat, and either do the same with the lamp or remove the lamp as well. Those thermometers are crap and are actually a danger to a snake if it falls off and sticks to a snake. Substrate can also be removed if you have a snake that needs more humidity. I'd suggest getting a coconut based substrate and if needed use aluminum foil tape on the screen to lock in the humidity further.

Yes, I recommend this product.

How can I replace the lid?

is this a suitable habitat for a mexican black kingsnake? I need to know because we are going to move her into a new cage soon.

Is this suitable for a baby corn snake?

      1. yes! but they might grow out of it when they get bigger))

Can i use this for a ball python

      1. For a very young individual (under a year). You would want to get a larger enclosure if it was older than a year or can stretch out further than the length of the 2 sides of the enclosure. You'll also want to think about how to keep humidity higher as this has a screen lid. It can be done, but will need some modification if you live in a dry environment.

      Is it water Proof

      1. It is sealed well for a non aquatic reptile, but I would reseal with aquarium safe silicone if you want to use it as an aquarium or aquatic tank.

Can i use this for a leopard gecko?

      1. yes you can
