USE THIS FOR YOUR CHAMELEON NOT THE COMPACT BULB

I have 2 panther chameleons, USE A T5 BULB NOT THE COMPACT OR T8 OR T12. It depends on what kind of chameleon you have whether you should use 5.0 or 10.0 but panther needs 5.0 and I believe veiled needs 10.0. (5.0 = 6% Arcadia, 10.0 = 12% Arcadia)

Yes, I recommend this product.

ReptiSun 5/10 HO T5 bulbs for chameleons

Dr O

I am using the ReptiSun 5 HO T5 bulb for a 30” juvenile panther chameleon cage, and the 10 HO T5 bulb for a larger cage. I’ve read many reviews and looked at published data on these bulbs (given that the 5 HO bulb is recommended for forest dwelling reptiles like chameleons and the 10 HO bulb is advertised for desert reptiles). If the lights are placed outside a screened cage, you will need to consider the light absorption and diffraction from the screen, and how rapidly the UVB light subsides with distance from the bulb, and the distance the lizards will be from the light at the top of the cage vs the lower parts of the cage and how much plant foliage there is. Over-exposure of UV light is possible, but appears minimal if the lights are placed outside the screening and the cage is large enough and has enough shaded areas for the chameleons to escape exposure if necessary. These ReptiSun bulbs appear to be high quality but should be replaced after 6-12 months to insure adequate UVB light is present (visible light that is radiated by the bulb will continue long after the UVB light has dissipated). These ReptiSun bulbs have been recommended by many other users and I have been satisfied with them for the short time I’ve been using them.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Will this work for my western hognose?

does this light have UVA and UVB, and can I use it for a leopard gecko?

    1. There are many factors that determine if a light is a good match for your pet in its current enclosure. See this link from ZooMed to help with your decision making. https://zoomed.com/wp-content/uploads/UVB-Reptiles-Lamp-Charts-2023.pdf Also note that if UVB is adequately provided, the leopard gecko’s calcium supplement should not contain Vitamin D.

Is this ideal for a green snake? I’m trying to find out what works best before I get him.

As a novice, attempting to set up a proper Beardie terrarium: I've ordered a 48x18x18 terrarium. Which length light and watt should I order? And how best can I mount it (with what recommended casing)?

2 questions: 1) Is this good for a Diamondback Terrapin? 2) What is needed for this bulb?  The pictures are unclear if it is just a bulb or the entire fixture. Please offer info on what to get.

        1. This should be ok for a Diamondback Terrapin but you will still need to provide a basking lamp in which case I would recommend the 80 Watt powersun that will offer both basking and UV light. This is for bulb only. No fixture included

These would work with the Zoo Med ReptiSun T5 HO Terrarium Hood, 24" L right.? I'm assuming the 22" L of the bulb is the actual light part, not the prongs and such at the end or am I wrong.?

        1. The Reptisun T5 HO bulbs are 22 inches in length from prong to prong tip. This bulb will fit in our Reptisun Terrarium T5 HO 24 inch hood. The 24 inch hood is designed to hold the 22 inch bulb.

Would this bulb be to powerful for a leopard gecko? The recommended amount of uvb for one is 2.4

        1. It depends on the size of the enclosure that your leopard gecko is in. When choosing one of Zoo Meds UVB bulbs you want to make that decision based on the distance that the bulb will be from your animal. I would recommend checking out the "Choose the Correct UVB bulb" chart that Zoo Med has on there website.

        Zoo Med ReptiSun 5.0 T5 HO UVB Lamp, 54 W, 46" L

        1. Thank you for your question. The Zoo Med RepriSun 5.0 UVB Lamp in all lengths has 2 prongs on the ends.

        What fixture to buy

        1. I realize this question is 6 years old but for anyone interested in an option, Zoo Med ReptiSun® Terrarium Hood, 20-Inch. It's a t8 bulb but the entire thing is only 20 in so it gives you a little bit of wiggle room in that 22-in space and still gives you the options of a reptisun light
