Perfect light bulb!

Very happy with Zoo Med products, always have been! After reading many reviews, as well as other reviews on other sites too, people think that the brightness of the light output equates to uvb output which is not the case! Uva is the physical brightness of the light while uvb is the radiation from the light. You cannot see the uvb spectrum... Just because it isn't bright, doesn't mean they're not getting the uvb they need, unless the bulb is old, like 6-12 months old, then you should change it. Again, brightness does not equate to uvb output. Hope this helps someone! Good luck people!

I bought this little over a week ago and our Red Eared Slider loves it. She spends several hours a day under it and her basking light. Before she wasnt really wanting to get out of the water but now soon as the lights click on in the morning she is up and under them. One Happy Turtle!!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Is the light supposed to be really dim? I expected it to be super bright... but a nightlight would put off more light.

  1. You might want to get the next size bigger. The light should be white and I would compare it to a 25 watt bulb, but yes, it is not like a bright 100 watt. The company that makes the bulb has several charts and videos of what wattage works best in what situation...animal species, tank size, fixtures, etc.

Can I use this for leopard geckos

could any of your reptile bulbs work for a pet bird?

Even though you stated it isn't enough for birds, I wonder if it will suffice for a bird who is outside of the cage most of the day? Or could it be used in a pinch if the bird bulb goes out?

Can I use this for my 7 Month leopard gecko?

        1. Should work fine. They need the uv too.

Is this light the same for birds?

Does this fit a ZooMed mini dual lamp?

            How long is it?

Does this bulb fit the zoo med nano basking spot lamp fixture?

Could I use this for my Russian Tortoise's indoor pen..To give her artfical sunlight until the weather gets warmer for her to go outside?

                1. Yes... I currently use this bulb for my two Easter Painted Turtles. You may want to get the ZooMed Mini dome combo it comes with the UVA & UVB bulbs. Your turtle needs heat and ultraviolet light year round in order to process the food they eat into nutrients.
