Do not buy. This is not proper hermit crab care. Your hermit crabs will not last in these conditions. I just rescued to You need a glass lid to hold in moisture, pools they can submerge in, a natural and varied diet, heating pad above the substrate line to heat the air not the sand, 6” of sand (not from the pet store) + coconut fiber, 10 gallons per crab in a minimum of 20 gallons with 2 hermit crabs (they don’t like being alone) and much more. Hermit crabs require a lot more care and a hefty investment.

I just bought this I recommen this when you first start having crabs because you understand out to take care of them but in a year you should probably switch to a 20-30 gallon.

Got this at my local Petco with our first hermit crabs, because it seemed to be a great starter kit. This is not a good tank for hermit crabs. I learned this after getting our crabs home and doing some research. I will be upgrading their habitat very soon. Petco please stop selling this as a starter kit for hermit crabs. Also it does not come with a heater which you will also need.

Save your money. You can buy a much larger tank for cheap and get better foods and dishes. Research hermit crabs before you purchase this or them.

I got this for my classroom pet set up. It is a good start but there is not enough sand so you will need to buy another pound or two of sand along with another water dish.

This tank is too small to properly care for even 1 hermit crab. 1. There isn't enough space to include the 6+ inches of substrate hermit crabs need 2. VitaSand is expensive garbage that is actually bad for crabs 3. Commercially available hermit crab food is all fillers and preservatives. Hermits need a balanced diet including calcium sources, animal protein, fruit, veg, and seaweed 4. There is no heat source. Seriously?? 5. The provided water dishes aren't deep enough for crabs to submerge themselves In short, this kit was created by a team of people who know little or nothing about proper hermit crab care, and the Big BOX Pet Stores who should know better don't care as long as they keep selling.

This is not a suitable tank for more than one hermit crab. The tank is only 10gallons and your suppose to have 10 gallons per crab! The food is full of fillers and should not feed to your crabs they need fresh fruit and veggies! Also dried food such as mealworms and minnows. The pools are not deep enough a crab has to fully submerge. Also substrate has to be at least 6 inches deep. The screen top is not recommend since they have to have a specific humidity and temp I had to plastic wrap mine. The calcium sand is no good to it hardens and can end up trapping your crab when they go to molt. Use play sand and eco earth it’s safe for them. Please do your research before getting crabs! I really like this tank and it cane with almost everything i need all i had left to get was a thermometer, a hideing/climbing thing, and a heating pad. Also it came with so much soil i hve enough for replacement.
