I have bought two of this bulb and they do not last longer than two weeks being used for 10 hours overnight. While the dimness is nice in the bedroom having to replace it so often is not cost effective.

I bought this bulb recently for my leopard gecko. Seeing as how they are sensitive to light and the store close to me only carried the small ceramic emiter, I decided on this. I keep the light directly over my leo’s humid hide and it has got the job done perfectly.

Can this be used for Tarantulas? I have a Curlyhair tarantula that doesnt require heat but would like to see into his enclosure at night.

Short answer is yes, if its a incandescent bulb it will produce heat, the color of the bulb itself is darker as to not put out much visual light, but it will produce heat the same way daylight bulbs would..higher the wattage the more heat produced, hope that helps.
