I use this in their 2nd water dish as it is recommended in the care books I have read about hermit crabs. They need to soak in salt water occasionally and this works great! I leave this salt water in their cage at all times, along with their regular water.

For some reason they broke, but step 2 has the same stuff as step one plus the salt that's needed for hermit crabs, so just get step2 and save yourself the money!

I've been buying this for my hermie since Spring of 2002. My little hermie enjoys a daily dip in this salty sea water...so much so that I need to change the water every other day...only because it has carried lots of coconut shavings into the dish with it each time it bathes!

I have hermit crabs and having difficulty finding saltwater that is already mixed to use in their 2nd bowl. Can this be used to mix into purified water? Thanks

It doesn’t need to be purified water. Just mix it with regular tap water. It removes the dangerous stuff and makes it the correct salinity. I have used it for years and our crab is thriving!

How much saltwater can you make? How long would it last with two hermit crabs

Months. Their saltwater bowl only needs a few drops. A bottle lasts me almost 6 months.

This is not for a fish tank, just salt water for filling a dish for a hermit crab to drink out of. Hope that helps. :)
