Best for Humidity, Bar None

Best of all the humidity-preserving bedding for reptiles and inverts. I've used it exclusively with my large collection of critters for 2 decades after many failures with coco or aspen, etc. in Arizona's dry humidity. No big chunks. Highly mold-resistant. Very clean and long-lasting. If you spot clean, you may virtually never have to replace all of your substract. I also use it as mulch from my tropical plants. And when I finally do need to change out bedding, I top dress outdoor trees and shrubs to help them hold onto moisture in our Arizona heat. Perfect product. Great value.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Good stuff but too expensive...too expensive.

I purchase two of these for my blue tongue skink and he loves it. He will dig himself real deep into the mulch and just hide away for as long as he feels like it. My only real issue is that the price is just way too much. I remember a while ago this being so much cheaper. But now it is just extremely overpriced.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Would this be good mixed with Eco Earth for a Red Milk Snake?

  1. I mix them together all the time for my ball python

How often should I change this substrate if I’m using it on a box turtle

Can I use this substrate for my Texas Giant Golden Millipedes?

    1. No, actually a mix of coco coir and play sand will be better. Forest floor is basically just cypress mulch. I use it for things that aren't burrowing or are stronger, like my tortoise. I keep Golden Sonorans too and they do pretty well with that. Even better is to put dried oak leaves, oak twigs, rotting oak material in the substrate as well. Be sure to mix a bit of capsicum powder in as well.

Could i use this for a crested gecko tank?

    1. I don't see why you can't. I use it for my lizards and box turtles.

is this stuff good for giant day geckos?

    1. My understanding the forrest floor is not good for geckos. I would say contact a reptile specialist or two (different opinions) to find out what to use. There are several reptile experts out there.

Hi is this good for a box turtle? We had dirt for the floor, but are upgrading his habitat, and want to make it more homey for him

    1. Yes! I have used this substrate for my russian tortoise. I personally prefer coconut coir because the forest floor bedding has a tendency to dry out quicker. Just make sure to mist it everyday.

Can this be used with the Eco Earth plus moss to make a good substrate for a juvenile leopard gecko? I have no problem spraying it as necessary. Could I also plant succulents in it? Thanks!

    1. I will add though, that a good wet hide substrate, stays moist and hold water well, is coconut fiber. But again it's only suitable for in the wet hide.

Would this be suitable for a fire bellied toad?

    1. No I use aquarium gravel sprayed down every day

Is this ok to use with a bearded dragon tank?

    1. Best things for bearded dragons is shelf liner, paper towels, tile, slate . I like tile and slate cause it helps keep thier nails filled down so less clipping them and it's very easy clean up.

Is this great for rose hair tarantulas?

    1. This substrate is appropriate for Rose Hair Tarantulas and can be mixed with other substrates to create custom substrate blends for the ideal habitat for your pet.
