NOT for box turtle, YES for tortoises

Box turtles, like most turtles, are insectivorous; they don't naturally eat much fruit or veggies in the wild, unlike tortoises. The leading cause of deformities in box turtles is due to an improper diet. Remember to provide UV, high-protein foods, and moist substrate for burrowing. Since tortoises are usually herbivorous (mostly fruit, leaf and veg-eaters in the wild) this is perfect! Great ingredients, good nutrition, just NOT for box turtles.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I've been giving this food to my box turtle for several years now and she does very well on it. She does tend to leave the corn. It is getting pricy. The cans are smaller and the price has increased again recently.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Can my salcata tortoise eat the can food for a box turtle?

  1. Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, a turtle food will not provide sufficient nutrition for a tortoise.

Can the Canned box turtle food be frozen after it is opened?

  1. I cut the food into pie wedges and freeze all of it. I put a frozen chunk onto a dish and my turtle eats it at room temp. The food thaws very quickly.
