Horrible shipping

Not at all happy with how this $300 dollar item was shipped the kit looked like it had been thrown around for the past six years( you could tell it was not the shipping company’s fault) there was a thick layer of dust all over everything the box was practically already opened by time I got. Very poor for petco to send something out In this condition . The tank itself could have alittle more swimming space for the steep price. But it works I guess. Save your money and buy something different.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Overall, the tank and filter alone were worth the price. I bought this for my 11 year old Red Eared Slider because I love the concept. The filter is really effective for this size water area. I love that the kit came with water conditioner as well. I wasn't thrilled with the substrate, it just made a mess in the water. The height of the wall on the basking area wasn't tall enough to keep my guy from getting out, so I put his old custom basking area/ramp in the space instead (with some modifications.) I also had to buy a heater for the tank since it didn't come with one. I feel like that's a crucial item that should have been included, but the small ones are cheap, so no biggie. Overall, this tank is easy to care for and my turtle seems to love it with the mods I made.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great for other reptiles other than just turtles

I bought this for my dwarf caiman as an isolation habitat until i get the permanent enclosure built. Plenty of space for a hatchling to do its thing and be a crocodilian. I used a mesh screen to use on top of it so the critter doesn't escape but after all it was meant for turtles so that wasn't an issue for me.

My turtle got out of his pond I made out of a kiddy pool last year & thought he was dead as never found him anywhere in the garden area where I had him. He showed up this spring in my parsley patch & was shocked how big he got. Looked all over the Internet for a new indoor home for him & checked Petco sight & found one that looked like it would work & the price was better than anywhere else. I read reviews on the sight & saw some problems noted, like shredded bark in sunning area getting pulled into the pond section & plugging up filter so I cut some cage carpet bought a long time ago at Petco & covered the bark with it & now no problem. The tank sits on the floor by the window in my office & Franklin & I are getting to know each other again. Love the tub.

I love that a beginner can buy this product and have everything they might need. HOWEVER my red ear slider needed heated water so i also had to buy a heater so maybe they can add this into the kit. Also my turtle kicks in the substrate after basing which clogs the liter. Its a good product just needs a few tweeks to make it better

This is really good as a starter kit and a cheap one at that. Most of the things in this kit complement the overall habitat, with the exception of a one thing. First off, the substrate that is included should not be used for your turtle, or any aquatic animal. This is due to the fact that the substrate will stick to your turtle,s skin when it is wet, so whenever he/she comes out of the water and onto the basking area with this as the substrate, it will stick to their skin. When he/she goes back into the water, they'll bring the substrate that stuck to their skin into the water with them. This will clog up the filter as a result. I would reccomend using some rocks bigger than your turtle's mouth to hold the substrate down.

Yes, I recommend this product.

What all is included with the turtle tub kit?

does this come with a heat lamp

      Is there a filter included?

      1. Yes, a filter is included in the kit.

How wide is the basking area? My turtle is about 6 inches wide, would this work for her?

      1. The turtle tub kit only holds 13 gallons of water, if your turtle is 6 inches wide I believe the turtle tub will be too small for your turtle. I might recommend looking into the 40 gallon aquatic turtle kit.

      How big is it?

      1. The turtle tub is 39″ x 21″ x 16″. The water area of the tub can hold 13 gallons of water.

      cleaning?

      1. It is very simple and easy to do a water change on your turtle tub. Buy a small siphon hose with a pump to sqeeze to start the water flow. I would also recommend changing the media in your canister filter whenever you perform a water change.

Can you buy the turtle tub in the store?

      1. each store differs, you would need to contact your local petco to see

What size turtle will live well in this??

      1. No.. Honestly looking at it I don't believe any turtle would be okay living in this. Turtles need depth to be able to swim and that water level does not look deep at all! For your turtle you will need at least a 75 gallon aquarium. The rule of thumb is 10 gallons per in of turtle. If I were you I would do a little more research before jumping into buying this habitat. I would suggest looking into the aquarium that they have on sale now. Only 10 dollars per gallon is a great deal!

Can you use something other than woodchips in this habitat?

      1. You can use some reptile carpet I would imagine. I have been using walnut sand for my bearded dragon and have had no problems with impaction. Some people recommend not using this but I'm not sure if that's all huff and puff or reality.

Is this turtle tub escape proof??

      1. My red eared slider has escaped from the basking end of the tank.
