Generally love this product

Typically I have no issues however this particular time around the bulb shattered in my hand when placing it into the lamp. I feel like it was a one time incident though and will continue using the product as I love how there is a tropical uv bulb for my Madagascar day gecko instead of just a straight up used for other types of reptiles.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Haven't had this bulb long enough to see its true value but seems to be so far so good. The fluorescent light isn't as overbearing as I originally thought.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Can this be used with a dimmer light fixture?

  1. Hello! Unfortunately, this bulb will not work with a standard incandescent dimmer switch. If you have further questions please give us a call at 1-888-255-4527!

Is this light okay for a gargoyle gecko?

  1. Hello! This product is ideal for tropical frogs, snakes and nocturnal geckos so it should be okay for your Gargoyle Gecko!

will this work with a 12x12x24 crestes gecko terrarium?

  1. Hi. Crested geckos are nocturnal and do not require UV rays, as they do not bask in the sun. Also, they are generally good to keep at room temperature, but if you’re struggling to keep the heat up for a crestie, a small ceramic bulb or red emitting heat light will generally be okay for a crestie as it will not disturb their sleep. Just make sure it’s not too hot or that they have a cooler spot on the terrarium to escape to as well.

Would this be good for a green anole?

  1. Yes, this can work for a green anole!

Should I buy this for my turtle?  I have a combo light heat and uvb. But want to make sure it’s right as he’s a baby.

  1. It would be good to know whether your turtle is aquatic or if you are taking about a tortoise. Many people interchange the two so I thought I’d ask. If it is indeed an aquatic or semi-aquatic turtle, then yes, the tropical one is good. If it is a land tortoise, then get the bulb marked for Desert. Keep in mind all turtles & tortoises need several kinds of essential lighting accessories-  one which delivers UVA/UVB (like this), one for basking (aquatics need an area to bask & completely dry off for several hours a day), and one for night time heat. I can’t remember for land tortoises, but for aquatics, the basking area temps should be about 85-95F and room air temps as well as water temps should be from 75-85F, so they will also need a water heater if your water isn’t at least 75F. I use 2 small rods in case one stops working. I know it’s a lot of info but turtles are expensive & high maintenance, however will live very long if properly cared for. Hope this helps!

Is this enough for a light source as well? Or would I need to add an LED for my leopard gecko?

  1. I think it's definitely enough for a light source. It's pretty bright. It's simulates daylight

if this okay for baby bearded dragons?

  1. I forgot to add in my earlier reply that this bulb only provides a light source & nutrient source from the artificial UVA/UVB. So depending on how much heat a baby bearded dragon needs, you'll lightly need a separate bulb for heat source as well. I'm not familiar with bearded dragon care, but have seen in some cases where an infared light or ceramic heat bulb is used for that. Also, make might want to make sure you have the correct strength wattage. The farther away you have the bulb from the animal, the stronger you'll need for watts. There's a chart on the side of the box that shows how far the bulb needs to be for proper effectiveness. I'd research how much UVB a baby bearded dragon needs if you don't know already.

Is this okay for gray tree frogs?

  1. Yes, the tropical UVB/UVA would provide light source and necessary vitamins from the artificial sunlight. However I'm not familiar with what type of heat source and the amount of heat tree frogs generally need, so you may or may not heat another heat bulb.

Is this a good bulb for an indoor box turtle?  Can it be used with a Fluker’s 5.5” heat and light clamp on lamp?

  1. For a box turtle, I would buy the DESERT option as opposed to the tropical one. I have both a box turtle and aquatic turtles. I suppose you COULD use the tropical kind as long as it provides the proper amount of UVA & UVB. Yes, you can use it with any kind of clamp on lamp.

What temperature will this keep the tank

  1. While these bulbs produce necessary UVA and UVB light for your pet, they produce very little heat. Combine this with a Mini Halogen bulb and Heat and UVB Basking Fixture for an all in one fixture that produces UVA/UVB, heat, and visible light.
