I put this in the Guinea Pig cage along with a couple of other chew toys. This on went first. He rolled it around and chewed in it until there was nothing left to roll. This toy only lasted a few days which makes it a little pricey if you pay regular price. I got in on the small toy sale which helped.

Yes, I recommend this product.

My rats really did a number on taking this rolling ball apart. The outside fell off and the middle is still together. Lasts for awhile.

It's cute, but the wood is very thin. My guinea pig destroyed it in 2 days. She chewed it until it fell apart. I have bought other toys that were made out of thick wood. I thought this might be like those.

Yes, I recommend this product.

What is the diameter of the ball?

  1. I think the one I measured was not chewed yet and it was about 3 1/2" in diameter. However, it's not a solid ball anyway. I'd say there's about 1/2" of thickness all around. So, there could be as much as 2 to 2 1/2" of space in the middle.

what type of wood is it made of

  1. Hi bruh4738, The product is produced with Rattan. Thanks,

Can these balls be used for nesting material for hummingbirds instead of a chew toy?

  1. In my opinion, no...it's tougher than it looks.  It doesn't break easily unless the animal has teeth like rabbits.  Of course, I do not know what hummingbirds use for nesting.  This one definitely keeps its ball shape.

Is there a bell inside the ball?

  1. Hi wenslo, There are 2 wood chew balls inside. Thanks,

Is this good for gerbils?

  1. Hi dfsk, This may be too big for a gerbil. We suggest that you contact your local Petco store's small animal experts for advice. Thanks,
