Is it good for a very small room? And is this recommend for a 11 soon to be 12yr old?
- Age set aside, you must do research before an animal depends on you. My "rule of thumb" is having the confidence knowing that you'll take care of a pet better than average. Remember: survive does not equal thrive.

Are the bars thick or thin like most parakeet cages?
- This cage has thick bars. I am very pleased with mine. I love the door with a latch and the ay area on top . Even better my bird loves it.
