Is this suitable for use in an automatic litterbox?
- No, I wouldn't, unless one is meticulous at keeping the machine clean. Feces aren't the problem, urine is. A friend of mine had one of those machines so I've seen (and smelled) the result of thinking the thing is litter magic. With World's Best, you can put a standard litter box in the bathroom, pick and flush the kitties' potty when you go yourself, and you'll never have litter box smell in your home, nor "perfume" or chemicals getting on kitty feet and into their belly when foot washing takes place. I hope this helps folks decide and no, I don't work for World's Best.

I have 3 cats, all adult. 3 large litter pans, how many bags would I need to buy
- You would need the 28# bag. Should be enough to fill all 3 boxes, then top them off for about a month.

How often does it have to be changed for 1 cat
- We clean the litter box completely ie, discard litter and wash pan, etc. 1x/month and the litter lasts - we add to it over the month of course as we scoop
