Should senior cat visits to the vet include any suggested lab tests for baseline status?
Our adult cat jus tested positive for FCoV (blood test), after no exposure to another cat for a year. Last year, our new kitten died, after 2 weeks in our home. He seemed healthy, but was put down after uncontrollable seizures. Should we get this replacement kitten? Is there a better test to assess risk? If the virus came from the breeder’s home, could our adult cat develop FIP, with new exposure? We are sad to think we might not get the kitten, but don’t want heartache again. Thank you.
Could someone give me insight on this bloodwork? Just adopted 14 year old pyr mix. Had never been to the vet before, so no previous history. Dewormed, vaccinated, and neutered at the shelter on 2/1. Problems so far: underweight, skin infection, ear infection, arthritic, deaf, several growths that haven't yet been aspirated, severe dental disease, etc. Brought him to the vet where I work and ran bloodwork but haven't had a doctor interpret it yet.
I have 1 FeLV+ cat and 2 negative ones. All were tested in the same day. The positive one shows no signs of leukemia, no pale gums, nothing. She has watery eyes at times. I’m considering getting her IFA tested to see how that comes out. How much on average does it cost for the test/ what would be the next step if it happened to come out negative? 1 was a snap test neg, the other 2 were ELISA tested.
How do I check for a microchip at home
I am taking my cat to the vet for CKD testing. He has a high level for creatinine from the full blood panel. Are there any holistic supplements for kidney health?
Hi! I just adopted a 1.5 year old female cat but noticed she had a soft lump on her belly. I have contacted the shelter who I got her from and they plan on biopsying the lump next week but I am wondering the likelihood of it being mammary cancer.
My German Shepherd mixed breed is around 13. (Pound dog - exact age unknown.) He is being treated fro a suspected pinched nerve in his back. The Vet suggested routine blood work. Two markers in the Catalyst Dx section were high. ALT was 180 U/L (normal 10-125) and ALKP was 492 U/L (normal 23-212). She said to help his liver he should get Denamarin 425 mg, one pill per day. It is very expensive. I have no reason to doubt her integrity or competence, but.... Do you agree?
Took in a dog who has been mistreated...want to make sure he's vaccinated and fixed also finding out his breed and estimated age
Hello! My dog is just over eight years old and has had a few skin cancers removed. I’m fairly sure this is just a skin tag but would love a second opinion thank you!
Hello! We just got a kitten from the shelter that had Parvo. Tested negative on 9/16. How long before we can introduce her and our adult cat (2 years old) without risk of him getting it?
How can i determine if my adult long haired cat has ringworm infection
