Safer Kibble?

Kris59

My dogs like this dry food, however, am very skeptical of all dry foods now. They need to be honest and caring about what goes into all dry dog food AKA kibble. We love our pets and don’t want to see kibble causing cancer, illness, etc.

Yes, I recommend this product.

This food will kill your babies. It will cause DCM1, due to its lack of Taurine, in a grain-free product. This company should already know this

No, I do not recommend this product.

This food almost killed my dog. This company should know by now, that a grain-free product, must contain Taurine and it does not.

Is this formulated to meet all the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for All Life Stages? Just got a puppy and don't see anything on the packaging. I use this for my adult dog and my vet said to make sure that it is

  1. I think a vet would be better able to answer this question by looking at the ingredients and nutritional information on the bag. I am a customer who feeds it to my adult dog.

Does this food contain any animal by-products? What is "chicken meal"? Thanks.

  1. Hi Texas Shep, Good day! No, none of our WholeHearted food contains animal by-products unless the part of the animal is specifically called out (i.e. Chicken Liver). The difference between chicken, chicken meal and chicken by-product as defined by AAFCO is: Chicken: the clean combination of flesh and skin with or without accompanying bone, derived from the parts or whole carcasses of chicken or a combination thereof, exclusive of feathers, heads, feet and entrails. (Translation: Chicken meat, skin and bone) Chicken Meal: Chicken (see above) which has been ground or otherwise reduced in particle size. (Translation: Chicken meat skin and bone that is ground into small pieces. Chicken meal is a dry, solid material that can be made into kibble.) Chicken by-product: the clean parts of the carcass of slaughtered chicken, such as necks, feet, undeveloped eggs and intestines, exclusive of feathers, except in such amounts as might occur unavoidable in good processing practice. (Translation: Chicken necks, unborn eggs, feet and organs) Thanks,

Can you please tell me the % of phosphorus in this food?

  1. Hi RobinPetMom, Good day! It is 1.0% As Fed. Thanks,

with auto ship, can the flavor be changed?

  1. Yes

Does Wholehearted use a high heat to process this food?

  1. Hi TonxsMom, This food is made through the extrusion process that uses heat and high pressure. Thanks,

Is this food made in China?

  1. Hi North House Paul, This product is manufactured in the US with globally source ingredients. Thanks,

What can of dog food can I mix with this

  1. Hi Donnayanswer, We suggest that you consult your vet before giving any new food or food combination to your pet Thanks,

Is the kibble size small enough for a shih tzu? My 2 year old shih tzu can’t eat big kibble.

  1. Definitely, i give it to my toy poodle mix who's 15 and has only a few teeth so it needs to be soak and get soft for him but my 60 lb lab mix also loves it so it works for both!

Does this food help with skin allergies and itching?

  1. Depends what the allergies are from. Some dogs are allergic to grains so yes would be good. But if has allergies to chicken, then no.

Is this a cruelty free food?

  1. I did not see anything on the labeling stating that the chickens were raised on a free range, cruelty free farm with their feet protected from falling through the cage-something tells me if they were, we'd sure know about it, if you find one please let me know. Maybe Petco knows.
