Moths in food

U2weird

The last 2 bags of Wellness CORE Grain-Free Senior Deboned Turkey dog food that I’ve bought has wound up with moths in the food. We have 2 dogs eating different foods. Each food is stored side-by-side in identical tubs with lids. The tub with this food has developed moths twice and the other food has not. Because of this, I’m inclined to think that this food is being sold with the moths (or larvae). Additionally, I noticed that there was a cob web like stringy substance in the food in both batches. The first batch I noticed it after I saw the moths. The second batch I noticed it when I opened the new bag and poured it into the tub. I shrugged it off telling myself it was part of manufacturing the food, but now I’m convinced it was from the moths and is further evidence that the food came infested. I also emailed Wellness about this, but, as of now, I can not recommend this food to anyone.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I have started with the regular Wellness Core Grain free Turkey, chicken etc. mix, now the my little boy is getting older, I switched to this and he seem to get his energy back! Plus I give him Pre&Probiotic chew's along with Hip and Joint chew's twice everyday. He act like when he was a puppy! Wants to play with his toys all the time, and loves to run and explore in the back yard. He has a fenced in 1/2 an acer of gardened park area to enjoy!

Yes, I recommend this product.

She Loves It!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dog LOVES this product. She is a very picky eater and rarely eats more than a few bites of her (very expensive) food. I’ve tried many different brands and same result. I started mixing in Wellness Core to her food and she started actually eating normal! She clearly loves the Wellness Core. Her weight has stayed stable even though she’s eating more and she is not itching at all which she usually does this time of year. I’m very happy with the product and will now add it to my shopping list!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Brand Overview: Wellness Core is a well-regarded brand known for providing natural, high-quality pet food solutions. Their senior dog food formula is specifically designed to cater to the nutritional needs of older dogs, ensuring they receive optimal support as they age. Ingredients and Nutritional Value: The Wellness Core Senior Dog Food is grain-free and packed with protein, featuring deboned turkey, turkey meal, and chicken meal at the top of its ingredient list. It also includes glucosamine and chondroitin for joint health, as well as omega fatty acids for a healthy coat and skin. Additional ingredients like probiotics and antioxidants support digestive and immune health, crucial for aging dogs. Taste and Palatability: Many dog owners report that their senior dogs enjoy the taste of this food. The kibble pieces are appropriately sized for older dogs who may have dental issues, making it easier for them to eat comfortably. Health Benefits: Joint Support: The inclusion of glucosamine and chondroitin helps maintain healthy joints, which is vital for senior dogs. Digestive Health: Probiotics aid in digestion, ensuring your dog gets the most nutrients from their food. Immune System Support: Antioxidants help support a strong immune system, keeping your senior dog healthy and active. Price and Value: Wellness Core Senior Dog Food is priced in the mid-to-high range compared to other premium dog foods. However, the quality of the ingredients and the targeted health benefits make it a worthwhile investment for the health of your senior dog. Overall Rating: 4.5/5 Conclusion: Overall, Wellness Core Senior Dog Food is an excellent choice for pet owners looking for a nutritious, high-quality food for their aging canine companions. Its focus on joint support, digestive health, and immune strength, combined with positive taste reviews, makes it highly recommended. Although it is slightly more expensive, the health benefits and peace of mind it provides are well worth the cost.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My senior pups enjoyed this food. I would suggest doing a slow transition if your pups are switching to a new food. The packaging was easy to handle and I appreciate the size of the bag. I love when brands make food that is made specifically for their stage of life.

My girl loves this food

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My girl looooved this food! She had no issues when we transitioned from her old food to this. She isn’t an “eat anything” pooch; she will spit any food out - dog and human - that she doesn’t like and look at me in disgust. So when I say she likes this food, I mean it.

How many calories per cup of the Turkey wellness core for seniors? Also, is the protein fat and carbs per cup?

  1. Hi iowadogs, there are 375 calories in one cup of the CORE Senior recipe. The fat value is 12.85% on an As Fed Basis, and the carbohydrates are 35.57% on an As Fed Basis. If you have further questions, please reach out to our Consumer Affairs team. We’re available at 800-225-0904 M-F | 8-5 ET, or email info@wellnesspet.com.

Can chihuahuas eat this food? Small breed dogs

  1. Hi 6892205 Copito, it's perfectly fine for a Chihuahua to eat our CORE Senior recipe as long as it can handle the kibble size. For a small breed dog like the Chihuahua we usually recommend one of our small breed recipe. These are formulated for the small breed dog and will have a smaller kibble size. Our Consumer Affairs team would be happy to review some recipe options with you. We’re available at 800-225-0904 M-F | 8-5 ET, or email info@wellnesspet.com. We hope to talk with you soon!

I've been using Wellness Core Rawz for my 10 year old 30 lbs mixed breed. Is the kibble the same size? I want to change her food for the added needed nutrients but don't want her to struggle with the kibble size.

  1. The kibble is small I’m size. I too wanted it to be small as my dog preferred it.

Does this have any amounts of zinc in the senior dog food? I don't see it any listed. I've read Siberian Husky needs zinc in their diets.

  1. Zinc proteinate and zinc sulfate are listed in the ingredients

I have one that is 11 years old and another dog that will be 5yo in December.  Is this food ok to give to both dogs or not? TIA

  1. I don’t know about the 5 year old, I would think they need regular food for the perfect blend. I have a pup that is 1 1/2 years old and I give her a different food.  My other dog is 13 years old and I’ve been giving her this food for 2 years. She likes it and I think it’s helping her to feel better and have energy.

Is this any softer than the other flavors? Since its made for senior dogs.

  1. This recipe is not softer. The nutritional values are geared towards the needs of the older dog. We do make a soft kibble recipe called CORE Tender Bites. Any questions please feel free to email us at info@wellpet.com or call our Consumer Affairs Team at 800-225-0904, M-F, 8am-5mp ET.

Is the kibble large or is it good for small breeds?

  1. Hello esmiee21, thanks for your inquiry. The kibble in our CORE Senior is larger than the small breed kibble. Our Consumer Affairs Team will be able to assist you further. We can be reached at info@wellpet.com or call us at 800-225-0904 M-F 8am-5pm Eastern time. Thanks!
