Petco is a great place to shop for your pet. They have a good selection of products and their prices are comparable to other stores. I like that Petco has on line shopping and auto shipping.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Puppy Wellness Core

I bought this product only because it is grain-free. I’m not sure if that is the best thing. Reading what is says on the package seems very healthy and again I don’t know if it healthy. I brought it home to introduce to my new puppy. He seems to like it more than the Victor brand. I like the fact that my puppy is eating like ‘he likes it’….we also use the same food for training. I am happy with the Wellness Core for my puppy. Hope my puppy will like the adult Wellness Core in the future.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Bought this food because of the great reviews and the fact that its grain free. Good quality and healthy. My 3 month old puppy loves it ! Reading the ingredients I noticed that peas, lentils and potatoes are added. I have doberman pup and those ingredients are harmful to dobermans and can cause DCM. Going back to Victor has recommended by breeder.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Wellness Natural Pet Food
Hi David 69, we are aware of the research conducted by the FDA on grain-free diets that contain high levels of legumes. Wellness has added supplemental Taurine to all dog diets since 2004 as a precautionary step following similar research that was published relative to the use of lamb and brown rice in diets. Currently Taurine has yet to be considered a requirement for dogs by AAFCO but known to benefit heart health. Our team is working with veterinarians, animal nutritionists and industry partners to help ensure that our diets continue to remain safe for all pets. We’ll continue to monitor the situation closely. As always, our Consumer Affairs Team is available to talk with you if have any questions. We’re available at 800-225-0904 M-F | 8-5 ET, or email info@wellnesspet.com. Puppy loves it!

I bought this food according to customer review and my puppy loves it! Unfortunately, after reading further reviews, it appears that grain-free foods may be affecting dogs with dilated cardiomegaly. This scares me, and I’m not sure I want to continue buying this type of food. That is the reason I gave it 4 stars. Otherwise, my little puppy has no trouble eating it!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

I have a 10 month old pug when should I switch him to the adult food?

 1. 1 year

For the newer puppies, did you add water to soften it up a little bit for them to eat or just leave as is?

 1. You should always de-bloat dry food!

Is this brand good for small breed dogs (shih tzu)?

 1. Yes, this is good for small dogs.

How many cups are in the four pound bag?

 1. There are generally 3.5 to 4 cups of kibble per pound of food. So your four pound wouild have 14 to 16 cups of food in it. Then just divide how many cups you feed your kid into the number of cups in the bag and that answer will be how many days your food will last. Hope this helps...

I have a large breed 16 week old puppy a Great Bernese and she needs some good large breed puppy food that will have Glucosamine/Chondrotin

 1. My previous dog was a large standard poodle and I had him on the Natural Choice. His coat was always in great condition and he loved the food. I always felt very confident in that the ingredients were what he needed to be a healthy dog. I think you'll find good results with the Natural Choice large breed puppy formula, and then it's an easy switch to the adult formula in the same brand.

Would this food be good for my two month old American Eskimo?

 1. Just an FYI re Blue Buffalo. I tried it seven years ago when I first got Duchess and she didn't do well at all. Yesterday asked my vet dog food and she said there are a lot of good ones but the ones she definitely didn't recommend was Blue Buffalo, Ol Roy and a few others. I've been feeding my two dogs and cat dry Science Diet for years now and the vet says they are doing well and to keep them on it. I also give them a small serving of canned Nutro Ultra which is very good, too. Good luck with your puppy!

8 month old puppy is on Core Wellness for puppies. How old should she be before changing to adult food?

 1. It depends on the size of the breed, it she is a small breed than about 1 year old, if a larger breed about 1 1/2 to 2 years old.

What size bites is Wellness CORE Grain Free Puppy Formula Dry Food

 1. Very tiny. Would do well for your dog's size.
