Hello! Is grain free canned food safe for my cat?
Hi there. I was thinking about switching my cat to a better quality food. I know the first at least 3 ingredients should be chicken, chicken meal etc vs corn or grains. My cat is 20lbs. Vet told me he should be 16lbs & be on a low fat diet. I don't think his purina pro plan weight mgmt is helping anymore. Fat is 12.5% max in that food. But other foods have more fat. I wonder if a grain free diet would help keep him full longer? How many calories/cups a day he should eat? Worried about weightgain
After cat fight & treated at vet with Covina, rabies, anti inflam shot, my indoor/outdoor cat recovered indoors for 3 weeks. He started going outside again in a limited way. He gained weight. About 2-3 pounds. He is getting a tummy. Pics attached. His diet (per day) is free eating Hills Science dry perfect weight chicken, 2 to 2.5 (3oz cans fancy feast, (about 1/2 can at a time when he requests) & occasionally cooked chicken meat. My male cat is almost 14. I know he is starting kidney problems due to the extra water he drinks at this point. and a bit thinner. lots of energy still. I read they need at least 50% protein, I give him wet and dry which i know is not good, but lots of wet and freeze dried chicken too, vit with dig enzymes.
