So far, so good

Labs Mom

My lab pointer mix was having trouble with his stomach...bad gas, stomach ache, bloating. We tried this and it seems to be working. He's not had any gas and no longer has stomach aches. He looks forward to eating, which was not something he cared too much about on other foods. And he's tried lots of brands.

No, I do not recommend this product.

My Picky dog pictured has always given me a hard time with eating. She used to be outback eating grass because of her upset stomach from low quality foods. Since switching her to a diet that was for her age and much better quality, her health has improved immensely! I don’t have to worry about a thing when it comes to her diet now. We even use the rewarding life treats along with the wellness shred toppers. No arguments here! We definitely will be trying more wellness products in the future.

Min Pin eats it up!

Henrys Mom

Still in the transition to this food for our diabetic 13lb min pin. We are feeding the canned low fat Wellness as well as a topper and he is enjoying the food so far. No loose stools. He does have tummy issues throughout the day as he has to eat every 12 hours for insulin dosage so the empty tummy causes him to throw up every now and then but it is not the food doing that. This one has 10.5% fat so borderline for a pancreatic dog but the items added for a SR. dog is why we are trying it out. Our vet liked the grains as well and said no grain free due to heart issues on those foods so hopefully this one will work in the long run! 43 Carbs is mid range and possibly not as good for a diabetic but it compares to the vet prescribed foods as those are not really low in carbs and our dog will not eat a fish based food so that being said, we will see!

Allergic reaction- itching and irritated bowl

Sedgewick

I was impressed with the ingredients and was looking for some new food for my six year old pup with the beginnings of arthritis to try. Unfortunately, as we began incorporating with his normal food he began itching (his legs, ears, and bottom). We continued to make the transition to this food as we were unsure if it was the cause of his itch. Once he was completely transitioned to his food, his symptoms got much more severe. He was very uncomfortable with severe itch, swollen bottom, swollen and smelly ana-l glands, and worsened body itch. We stopped the food completely. The allergic symptoms improved after a week. We were still not sure if the food was really to blame, so one month later we started incorporating a little back in- and his itch came back. This was disappointing as we purchased the large bag. My dog hasn't shown sensitivities to other food or supplements we have given him- so this was very strange.

One pup liked

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had one dog who liked it she thought it was a treat mixed in her food. She would go to the cabinet and wait for it to fo with her regular dog food before she would eat anything.

Dogs Approve

samanthar8

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My older dogs definitely approved of this new food. I introduced this slowly by mixing it with their old food as to cause no issues with their digestive system. I liked that it did not contain any wheat, corn, soy, or artificial flavors or colorings. It also helps support joint and bone health which is a plus for my older dog who already suffers from joint issues. This is a great brand that I would recommend and will be continuing to purchase.

Good dry food

mariasp7

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My senior cocker spaniel enjoyed the food and ate it as soon as I give it to him. We tested it for 4 weeks 2 of which took the transitioning. During transitioning there were some digestive issues, but it was expected. Overall, we liked the food and will purchase it as a backup to have around. But for now we will stick to our regular Blue Wilderness.

Questions

1 - 1 of 1 Questions
Sort by: Newest Answers

Are these bags recyclable? Are any of the ingredients including the vitamins sourced from China? Are the ingredients GMO free?

  1. Hi Lena73, our dg food bags are recyclable through Terracycle. You can learn more about it at www.terracycle.com. Our Wellness ingredients are primarily sourced from North America. We have one of the most strict sourcing criteria of any pet food manufacturer. All ingredients suppliers, whether domestic or international, need to meet certified nutrient levels and be manufactured in quality audited facilities. While there are many high quality ingredients available in the U.S., in some cases there is not a readily available U.S. supply. For examples, our Venison, Lamb, Rabbit and Salmon Meal are sourced internationally from New Zealand, Australia, Italy and Chile respectively. Specifically, for Chinese ingredients, we do source our Green Tea Extract, Mixed Tocopherols and vitamin A, B and E from China. We feel that we have the appropriate quality programs in place at all our vendor locations and feel safe and secure with all the ingredients we source, whether they are sourced locally or globally. We do not claim to be GMO free due to possible cross contamination but to source our ingredients from GMO free suppliers. If you have further questions, please reach out to our Consumer Affairs team. We’re available at 800-225-0904 M-F | 8-5 ET, or email info@wellnesspet.com.
