To introduce brushing to your dog, place a small amount of toothpaste on the tip of your finger and offer it as a treat, encouraging them to lick it off. Next, apply toothpaste to the soft-bristled pet toothbrush or finger brush. Gently expose your dog's front teeth and brush in a circular motion. Slowly work up to sliding the toothbrush along the gum line from front to back, making sure to get those often neglected back molars. Questions
Does this toothpaste expire? I have had it for two years, and haven't used it on my dog in a while. I don't know I should use it or not.
- toothpaste does expire, usually a date on the box it original packaging. The other issue is once opened and exposed to air, etc can become contaminated. I would personally throw it out. you made be able to contact manufacturer for expiration and specific information.

Can someone explain to me how this product went from a blue gel that smells strongly of vanilla to a white paste that smells nothing like vanilla and yet the ingredients listing remains identical? What is going on?

Is the Well and Good toothpaste an enzymatic toothpaste? I need to use the toothpaste with enzymes in it for my service dog.
- Hi Tara49, Short answer is NO, it is not an enzymatic toothpaste. The tartar control in this toothpaste is Tetrasodium Pyrophosphate. Tetrasodium pyrophosphate acts as a tartar control agent, serving to remove calcium and magnesium from saliva and thus preventing them from being deposited on teeth. Tetrasodium pyrophosphate is used in commercial dental rinses before brushing to aid in plaque reduction. Sodium Bicarbonate (aka baking soda) also works as a gentle abrasive, helping to remove stains from the teeth. Thanks

What is a good and safe product / brand for cleaning my dogs teeth?
What is the best tooth paste for dogs? Is it Virbac or which? Also do you recommend a specific mouthwash?
My 20 lb 1yr old dog chewed on a tooth paste tube. I'm not quite sure how much was ingested, but by looks of it, he may have ingested about a third of the tube. I've attached a photo below. It does not seem as though he has ingested any parts of the tube or cap. It's just chewed but nothing missing or torn off. The brand is arm and Hammer. It does contain fluoride but NO xylitol. It is a non-suds toothpaste. Attached below are it's active ingredients
My pup, cody ate a size of 2 appleseed colgate flouride toothpaste. I have read that flouride is dangerous for dogs. The toothpaste contains sodium monoflourophosphate o.76%w/w. He's not showing anything abnormal tho.

I bought Sentry Petrodex toothpaste and my dog hates me trying to brush her teeth even with all of the suggestions provided to gradually introduce her to it.. However, she loves greenies and I put a little of the toothpaste on the greenie and she will eat the greenie and chew it good. I do this once daily. Her teeth have improved a lot. I only put about the tip of an index finger amount on the greenie. Is this a safe method since she is eating the toothpaste?
