How to trim your dog's nails: Holding your dog's paw firmly in one hand, insert the nail into opening above the cutting blade and squeeze the handles together. If your dog's nails are extremely long, trim just a little off and wait a week to trim the nails again. This will allow the blood vessels to retreat back into the nail. Repeat the procedure once a week until you have reached the desired length. Important: If you cut too much and the nail starts to bleed, apply Four Paws Styptic Powder to the nail and the bleeding should stop.

Questions
Hi! I bought the clippers for large dogs. It has the safety latch, BUT IT has a moveable peice on one side,(which moves from side to side) . It does tighten abit on one side of the blade. My question is, what exactly is this piece for? help please!
- Hi Nanabanana51, If you are referring to the silver vertical piece that runs along the backside of the head of the toll then it is used to assist in preventing the guest from hitting the quick while clipping the nail. We would need a picture to verify that this is the piece you are referring to. Thanks
