This device is poorly designed and is a pain to get a reliable reading. I do not recommend this product at all to anyone trying to get a thermometer for their pet. I would give this product 0.5 stars if I could. The instructions are not clear and poor packaging design. It could be contaminated, so I threw it out. What a waste!

I bought this yesterday--Petco was the only place in town that had them. The packaging is next to impossible to open. Once opened and out of its clear case, it requires an eyeglasses screwdriver to "remove the cap" as instructed on the package. Upon removal and pulling the battery tab as instructed, the battery jumps out-- don't lose it! There are no instructions how to correctly re-insert the battery. Once the battery is re-inserted correctly, the thermometer displays an "L" with no explanation what that means.

I bought this thermometer in Aug 2025. It came with a dead battery which we replaced but to no improvement! The unit does not operate as the instructions state, instead an "L" comes on the screen and stays. Only by double clicking the power button does the thermometer seem to go to a mode that makes it usable by finally showing the correct temperature. Additionally, it shifts to celsius without being asked to and is hard to change back. Finally when we asked the staff but they had no recommendation or understanding of dog thermometers and offered no advice on purchase or operation. When your dog is sick and you need equipment to monitor their condition the last thing you want is bad or inaccurate equipment or unknowledgeable sales folks. This is a NO buy.
