What is a safe hair gel for my dog
I hear dosinkencoated dogs should not be shaved. I believe my German Shepherd is considered a double coated dog. I tend to trim him down a bit. Should I not do that? Will it affect him in any way? I trim home like this but shorter around the neck. So I basically keep his belly and chest short. Is that ok?
My dog is double coated and we took him for a haircut today but the woman who cut his hair didn’t listen to what we asked for at all and shaved him all over, we are furious. I know you can’t shave a double coated dog so I was wondering if there any way we can help him out
I have a long haired elderly maincoon/tabby mix with mats all over his body because he is too overweight to reach them and honestly doesnt even try. Is there some product we can use to help him out? Shedding brushes are useless at this point and we've nearly resorted to a professional groomer.
Is it okay to shave, with an electric shaver, a small part of my dog's fur of off his lower back (by the tail)? He has a lot of fleas in that area and it is very difficult to remove them from his thick, black fur. I want him to be relieved of any pain ASAP and shaving (followed by cleaning) seems to be the most efficient and effective method. He is half Lab, so his coat is like a Labrador's.
I sent my double coated dog to get groomed and the groomer shaved off his first coat. How do I make sure my dog is comfortable and his first layer grows back normally? I’m concerned since I’ve read double coated dogs should not be shaved. I’ve attached pictures of my dog before and after the grooming.
I was grooming my dog and I accidentally clipped her vulva, is she going to be okay?
can I trim my long haired Jack russells hair? Also how short can it be and still offer some sun protection. He has a hard time staying cool.
I have been reading your tip on how to get your dog to have their claws cut without any problems. Part of the advice is to let your dog get used to the buzzing of the clippers on the dogs paw. I've never seen any clippers that buzz when cutting the claws as the only ones that buzz are for cutting the fur. As far as I know the nail cutting is done with something like scissors that has a part you can use to make sure you don't cut them too close to the quick of the claws.
Have a spunky new rescue chihuahua mix and she is skittish. So much so she will resist any efforts to trim her nails. We have 4 dogs so I have trimmed nails hundreds of times--but with Ricki Ricardo, no luck. I sit on the floor and flip them over and cradle them between my legs. My wife distracts them with peanut butter on a spoon. Besides going to a groomer or vet, any ideas? I thought maybe a groomer table might help. Are there premium nail cutters of higher quality than store bought?
Have a soft coat Weaten terrior. I have been told that cutting her coat very close to skin will help cool her in summer. Is this true? Live in SC with 90 degree weather
