KetoChlor is applied topically when bathing your pet. It is important that the lather be allowed to remain on the pet for at least 5-10 minutes each time the shampoo is applied. My 10 yr old Shih Tzu has a skin condition (like myself - scalp) and I have a prescription for ketoconazole shampoo. I took it to his groomer to use on his last visit to see if it would help (I think it did), problem is - so much more has to be used on him than for me. My question is - is there a less expensive alternative for a dog. He gets these skin ulcers and 2 have ruptured - others have just dried up and leave a scaly film. Not sure what to do to help him.

Hi. Mydog is infected with mallassezia. There r also some embeded black spots in his hair folicules. He’s bn washed with ketoconazole shamp for 5 times. No dandruff any more but still i find pyodermic pustules on his body. 3 questiones: 1st- is ketoconazole shamp enough? 2nd- can i add chlorohexidine mouth wash to ketoshamp for antibacterial advange of it?
