Vetmedin (Pimobendan) is in a class of heart treatments named "inodilators" used in the management of certain types of congestive heart failure in dogs. These medications increase the heart muscle's ability to pump blood. Vetmedin increases the ability of the heart muscle to contract and also open up the blood vessels taking blood to and away from the heart. This reduces the heart's workload as it pumps blood throughout the dog's body. Specifically used for the management of the signs of mild, moderate, or severe congestive heart failure in dogs. The safety of pimobendan has not been evaluated in dogs younger than 6 months of age.

Vetmedin should be given by mouth. Unless otherwise recommended by your veterinarian, the total daily dose should be divided into two portions. The portions should be administered 12 hours apart (i.e., morning and evening). The tablets are scored and dosage should be provided to the nearest half tablet increment. Always follow the dosage instructions provided by your veterinarian. If you have difficulty giving the medication, contact your veterinarian. This medication should only be given to the pet for which it was prescribed.

We love this medication just wish it was always in stock. We are almost out and this is 1 of 5 heart medications our little chihuahua girl is on to keep her alive. We are so worried if it don’t get back in stock it’s not going to be good. Please get this back ASAP. It’s so important to us and so many others.

We had trouble finding the Vetmedin, but luckily for us, Petco had it and got it to us as soon as we got them the prescription. We are all for whatever we can get to make our little dog comfortable and feel better.

Petco took days to tell me they actually didn't have the Vetmedin prescription I needed, so had to do an emergency and expensive purchase from my vet. Petco has been great in the past. Let me down this time.

My dr of needs 5mg which u don’t carry it are out of med. so had y to o order 10mg and cut all in half and then quarter some. My dog is on 15mg a day
