I saw many breeders using sawdust or wood mulch for whelping box bedding is it good?
I can’t put the rails inside the whelphing box is there is a problem? Should i make rails inside the box is it a must?
My husky gave birth in a sand hole even though I had prepared a whelping box for her. Is this ok or should I move them? If so, when is appropriate? Also, how do I prevent her from accidentally smothering her puppies when she lays down? TIA
I want to crate train my 1 year old dog. I bought a "medium" crate for her , shes 25 lbs - aussie/dashund mix so shes kind of long shaped. The measurments on the box are for a dog even taller/wider than mine... but the crate doesnt really seem big enough for her to turn around in (unless she kind of squirmed up into a circle). Do you think I need to buy a larger crate? Why does the size on the box say its good for the dog's size.. / ?
My dog is in labor right now, she’s been panting for hours and has begun nesting. How long until she starts pushing and the puppies will come out? She likes to nest in her crate. Should I make her stay in whelping box?
Since i atarted to put the 27 old day puppies out the box to eat then return them 4 or 5 of them started to yeal and cry every day and stand on the box’s wall trying to get out this is normal?? And i wanted to know how i can clean puppies at this age can i use wipes that we use for newborn human baby?
So my dog keeps peeing in her kennel. I have started making more frequent potty breaks and that has helped some. But she still has accidents about twice a week. So I have thought about getting her a smaller kennel. She is in a 42’’ wire kennel. She can lay in a ball in the corner of it and not take up much room. She is too tall for a smaller kennel. What should I do? Also she had had all her bloodwork done and nothing is wrong. She is 30’’ tall and 30’’ long.
When my dog was pregnant she slept in her cage until 3 days b4 she had them. After delivering she stayed in the room with us and her pups for 6wks.After the pups were weaned she slept back in her cage. For the 1st wk she was fine. Now every night she whines all night long to get out the cage.I almost want to get rid of her.Is there something I can give her to make her sleep through the night because she keeps us up every night?she has 2 b in her cage i have 2 otha dogs caged at night. calming meds?
My bitch is 60 days along. Her temp is 98.4. She’s staying in here whelping box otherthan going potty. No panting or heavy breathing. She is licking a lot and has very little clear discharge. Is she going into? labor how soon should I expect puppies?
I have just got a 2 month old teacup poodle (3 days ago) I made a large enclosed area in my front room with plenty of toys and an area were she can do her toilet . I also have 2 beds in there 1 which is a covered house and another a standard bed. My problem is the dog just keeps crying When I leave the penn. she is fine when playing. Should I put her in a crate at night as she just cries all night in the penn I sleep on the sofa but it does not help. Please advise Sleepless in Japan
Hi, it is the middle of the night, my great pyrenees is wanting to move her 3 week old puppies from inside the house to her dog house outside. It's 29 degrees. She is taking one at a time, feeding it for about 30 minutes, then going to get another. 4/10 are now outside with her. I was rescuing them when she walked away to get another but I just put them all back out with her. Should I force her in? When I locked her in she just kept one in her mouth, walking around with it everywhere
Our female dog has been laying in her whelping box all morning. She is also lactating and her nipples are enlarged. She doesn't look pregnant though. Could she be going into labor? She won’t let our other dog go near the whelping box. *
