I want to crate train my 1 year old dog. I bought a "medium" crate for her , shes 25 lbs - aussie/dashund mix so shes kind of long shaped. The measurments on the box are for a dog even taller/wider than mine... but the crate doesnt really seem big enough for her to turn around in (unless she kind of squirmed up into a circle). Do you think I need to buy a larger crate? Why does the size on the box say its good for the dog's size.. / ?
So my dog keeps peeing in her kennel. I have started making more frequent potty breaks and that has helped some. But she still has accidents about twice a week. So I have thought about getting her a smaller kennel. She is in a 42’’ wire kennel. She can lay in a ball in the corner of it and not take up much room. She is too tall for a smaller kennel. What should I do? Also she had had all her bloodwork done and nothing is wrong. She is 30’’ tall and 30’’ long.
Any tips about crate intolerance? I would like to have my dog crate trained because he poops when I leave even though he is potty-trained. Also I feel like a safe space would be good for him as he also has separation anxiety.
What size crate should I purchase for an adult German Shepherd I am planning to adopt?
I adopted a medium mixed dog yesterday. He was neutered the day before. The humane society's record showed he was crate trained. He barks almost constantly when in his crate, except the first few minutes when he's working on his peanut butter Kong. I walk him before crating and he urinates and sometimes has a BM during the walk. If I can't get this addressed, I may have to return him. Please help!
Hello. We have a 9 week male Morkie named Grits. We are trying to potty pad training and crate training. We let him out every 2 hours and let him do his business. Then we play with him for a bit, then back to the crate. Our question is, can we move the crate upstairs with us when we go to bed? The wife would really like for him to sleep in bed with us,but not until he is potty trained
My dog pees and poops on the carpet when we leave and at night . We have tried everything and she finds her way out . Metal cage-rips gums and teeth out, mesh cage chews her way out, kitchen with a gate chewed base boards has to have wood slivers removed from her mouth, we have take her to the vet many times no urinary trac infection being in her senior years ( 9) . We have sent her to day cares and she just freaks out barks the entire times and they call us to pick her up and nobody sits her.
I got a wooden house for the dog, i will put warm blankets on the inside, and her pillow/bed on the inside. The door is plastic three stripes. Can I leave her to sleep and stay at the balcony at night or during the day ? temperature goes down to -5 celsius
My wife and I just adopted a rescue dog (female lab /red heeler mix, 9 months old) and she will not come out of her crate other than for a treat that is close enough to keep her hind legs in. She is unsoundly traumatized by her precious life, but by being scared to leave her crate she holds her pee and poop until she absolutely can’t hold it (in her crate). We have received advice not to drag her out, but we also can’t leave the crate or her covered in feces and urine. Any advice?
I saw many breeders using sawdust or wood mulch for whelping box bedding is it good?
I'm having trouble trying to find the proper enclosure for my dog. She seems to be having separation anxiety and she already destroyed a part of my door after only being alone for 2 hours. I'm gone for work for about 9 hrs a day so I don't want something where she wouldn't be able to move comfortably..what should I do?
My dog has bad separation anxiety. If we leave her out of the cage she will go to the bathroom. If she is in the cage she will tear up her bed. Is there any product that can help? Or is there some advice you have? Her separation anxiety is worse at night. I have been usually sleeping with her to keep her company. She has no trouble when I am with her. When she is in the pen (enclosed but no top or bottom) at night we are all upstairs sleeping in our rooms, she is downstairs.
