Messy!

My cat makes a big mess with this. And I don't think she has slimmed down at all. She just reaches in and pulls out all the food.

No, I do not recommend this product.

My cat was starting to eat so fast he would choke himself, so I bought this to slow him down. It is a bit big for a single cat, but feeding is now a game for him and it occupies him for a while. I definitely recommend this if your kitty gets a little too excited for mealtime. A few disclaimers, though: 1. The tray is narrow, so once your cat gets good at fishing out the food expect him to fling it across the floor. 2. It is hard to place this, since the cat needs to be able to get around it. It is about a medium-sized pizza in diameter too, so finding an unassuming location is impossible, but that is okay if you don't mind showing that you have a cat. 3. Even if you use this, don't expect to be able to reduce the number of times you feed your cat. My cat has this well enough figured out already and he will lick it clean no matter how much I put in. If your cat really does have an eating problem and you don't have time to break up his meals throughout the day I recommend an automatic meal feeder. All in all a good dish that works well for its intended purpose.

Works well, but narrow tray may cause issue

My cat figured out how to use it quickly, and seems to like pawing the food out. It's a great thing to reduce the amount he eats and speed at which he eats. However, the white tray to pull it onto seems rather small, so he sometimes has trouble reaching it with his mouth when trying to eat after pawing it out. He's a larger cat, with a larger head; a smaller cat should be fine, but be wary if you have a larger breed.

Larger than expected.

Larger than expected, and was picked up easily by the kitties. Even when it's say beside a free-feeder, the cats seem to still looking digging their food out. It's also fairy large and can hold a decent amount of food plus keep larger dogs out of the cat food.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Wonderful feeder. Cats did have a few problems learning how to use it, but, after a while, they learned and now they use it all the time.

fat chance

Slows down our fat cat's eating, but he still manages to clean his plate. And not good for 2 cats as his smaller sister doesn't get on the dish until he eats his fill, which is everything. Does make him work a bit for his dinner.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I have 3 kittens, and decided to try this product in order to keep them happy and to leave them enough food during the day when I am not at home. Initially it was fine, but after the first day or two, they learned how to get all the food and eat it all up (would get a bunch of kibbles at a time with their small paw, lol). Now I have to measure how much I add in there! But still I love that the food stays neat and fresh and that they need to work to get it.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Ok product

This product works as advertised, but my cat has no idea that she should be reaching into the center to try to dislodge food that hasn't fallen yet. She just scoops out the food that's already fallen, and somehow still manages to do this fast enough that she pukes up undigested food. Oh well. I'm sure this product would work great for people with smarter cats, hahah.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I have one of these pet feeders and haven't used it in a while. I turned the screw thing in the middle the whole way down for cleaning and now it won't go back up. I tried gripping it with a pair of pliers but I'm afraid it will break. Any suggestions?

  1. Can't help you with that unless it is just misthreaded and needs to be fully unscrewed and put back on track. I stopped using mine after a week because it was all or nothing. I put the screw up and nothing would come out. I put it down and it flowed out to capacity of the bottom tray. Not the control I needed for an overweight kitty.

If I spin the inner white screw all the way, the space for food is still too gaping to retain cat kibble and it falls right through!? One reviewer says they can nearly close their's. Is there something missing with my feeder? Thanks.

  1. I stopped using mine for this reason. It was all or none. If I screwed it all the way up no kibble would fall out. Once I went down a bit it poured out until the kibble clogged up the openings. I could not control the flow.

Is this operated by battery or electric, or both, or neither ?

  1. Hello sharonlee050: This activity is not battery or electric. You will fill the 3 tunnels and the 3 tubes with treats or food and your cat will remove the food from it through active exercise. Thank you for your question.

I have 2 cats - one is a gobbler and the other is finicky. Will this slow my fat cat down while still allowing my finicky eater to get enough food?

  1. Our Tunnel Feeder is ideal for dispensing dry food to multiple cats, and should work to slow down your speedy eater. Good Luck!!

I have three cats. Would all three be able to eat from this if I used it for their daily food allotment?

  1. If you use this activity item for daily feeding, we would recommend that you limit the number of cats to ensure that each animal is provided an adequate daily serving of food for proper nutrition. Thank you!

I have a beagle who eats all of my cats dry food. Does this feeder help keep him from getting access to the food?

  1. Your beagle's ability to gain access to dry food hidden inside TRIXIE's Tunnel Cat Feeder will depend on the age/size of your particular pet. If your dog's paws are small enough, she will be able to tease out the dry food with a little practice. However, this feeder might pose enough of a challenge that it might slow down, or cause your pet to loose interest in snagging your cat's treats. Thank you!
