Good with a few minor adjustments

I have two 7 pound rabbits, Beethoven and Eliza, who live in this hutch outside. So far it's working out pretty well-with a few minor adjustments. Pros: Two stories Good size run Multiple doors Looks cute The roof repels rain very well The roof handles frost very well Pull out tray for the bedroom area I LOVE the attic!!!! It fits almost all of my rabbit supplies, plus a large amount of hay The door that closes off the bedroom so I can clean it Plenty of room for litter box, blankets, toys, food, and water, with exercise space left over Rabbits can stand in the section of the run not under the bedroom Was very easy to put together Locking arm for attic works very well And most importantly, the bunnies seem happy in it :) Cons: The rabbits can easily dig out The latches are not very secure, and the latch for the door on the far right was put on upside down Wood had a minor split and a chip on arrival They have already chewed up the left and right walls. The ramp is pretty steep, but the bunnies can handle it To fix the digging, I put stuff kinda like chicken wire but with smaller holes on the bottom. Then, because that seemed rough on their feet, I mowed the lawn and put a thick layer of grass cuttings on top of the wire. The rabbits escaped through the door with the upside down latch. I nearly had a heart attack when I looked out the window and saw them running about the lawn, being chased by our bloodhound. Luckily, the hound is very old and is not able to run very fast. Even more luckily, our young Labrador was not interested. I ran outside, put both dogs in an exercise pen, and managed to catch both rabbits in about half an hour, before they ran into a section with thigh-high grass or into the street. After that scare, I zip tied the faulty door shut and checked all the others, which thankfully are secure. As for the chewing, they only chewed the bottom of them, so it's really nothing to get worked up about. In the winter, I'm planning to put the entire hutch in the barn so it doesn't get snowed on. All in all, I recommend this hutch :)

Yes, I recommend this product.

ramp size

  1. You may also want to know that the ramp is pretty steep, and an elderly or disabled rabbit may have a hard time getting up it. If you are a handy person I think you could fix that though

Is there a hatch that closes off the top compartment, so rabbits can be locked there at night?

  1. Yes, but when I put my two rabbits in there during the day they were panting very hard. There's isn't really circulation if you close the door, and I think it's mainly meant to keep rabbit(s) in the run on the bottom
