This coop isn't terrible for the money, however you do get what you pay for. I've had it for a couple months. First had to add a lot of wood to several areas to reinforce and winterize. Arrived with some damage to the wood, but nothing too major. The right main hinge has since broke off the lid so now the coop is fairly worthless. Can't find a replacement one. Also the other door sticks and I know the latch on that will give pretty soon. Coop is very dark inside and I don't think the chickens like it. It is a fairly good size compared to other prefab coops though.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Trixie Chicken coop

I think this is very poorly constructed and not worth the cost. Any movement seems to loosen something--door that drops fell apart within a year--edges around laying area loosened when I moved coop position and one piece fell off. If you're not extremely careful the pieces of hardboard will collapse and chickens are in danger. I had to reinforce with chicken wire beneath it to prevent that. When putting it up on concrete blocks some of the feet splintered and came off.

No, I do not recommend this product.

This is the perfect nightime coop for ducks. It is low to the ground yet keeps them warm and safe from predators at night. The instructions could be better, but it was not hard to put together. Since the lid lifts up you can scoop out the litter or sweep it through one of the doors to clean it.

Yes, I recommend this product.

If this is Chinese fir can the wood touch the ground?

  1. All of the wood on our TRIXIE Natural Chicken Coop is coated with a weatherproof glaze. Thank you!

What country is the chicken coops made?

  1. China

can i put an extra lay box in this house

  1. No. It comes with a divider that creates two adequate boxes, but the coop is only big enough for 2 standard or 3 bantams. They are apt to all use the same box. If you put another box in there will be very little floor space or room for the roost bar.
