Hello, this aviary is suitable for small parakeets, zebra finches and other small birds. The number of birds suitable would depend on their size. When these aviaries are made, they are stained then boxed up and can sit in these boxes for months at a time, causing the stain smell to be very strong. We would recommend placing the item outdoors for a couple days in a covered area to allow the smell to air out, helping it dissipate quicker. Thank you for your question.
