Excellent quality for the price

Easy to assemble and all the pre-drilled holes lined up precisely. Result was perfectly straight lines from door frame to door frame. Looks far more expensive than it was.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Nice design

We purchased this a few months ago- I was so excited for the open bottom for the bunnies to chew natural grass etc but didn't considered they would dig out from underneath. We had to build a base and cover with safe wire to keep them from getting out. /:

No, I do not recommend this product.

Better Than Expected

First I'd like to address some complaints i noticed people had... None of the wood is treated. None of the metal parts are stainless, galvanized, or zinc. So people complaining about longevity when using outdoors- WHAT DID YOU EXPECT!!! I will be using this indoors. Second as far as the instructions, its true, there are only 5 pictures. However, if you take your time and read/study them, it is VERY straight forward. I bet my 7yo could do this.. Third, the lack of a plastic pan on the bottom does stink. But, i used one from my dogs old crate, and it fit perfect. One could be had for $20-$30, apprx. 41"x28". Fourth, people complain about its small size. I am using this for a Holland Lop, which is about a 5lb bunny, and its perfect. I wouldn't recommend this for a larger rabbit. Some advice- Double check all the factory screws and make sure they're tight. When assembling the hutch and using a torque drill, i noticed that 5 is the perfect setting for all screws, followed by a 1/4 turn or so hand tightening. For the locking hinge, set your drill at 2, followed by hand tightening. I also used a little bit of wood glue on the dowels. Take you're time setting the position of the locking hinge, as there are no pilot holes. In closing, this is a nice hutch for the money, with great looks. Its not perfect, and will have some visual/ factory flaws but what do you expect from a mass produced product? I would recommend this hutch to anyone who plans on using this indoors away from the elements, and who wants a more upscale look as opposed to the traditional wire cages.

Yes, I recommend this product.

very cute but some improvements could be made...

The hutch is cute and it was easy to put together, but directions weren't very clear. Luckily I have a handy tool man at home. We added wood glue to the effort of screwing the pieces together, some of the screws are not long enough to really get in to the other piece of wood. In addition, the ONE COMPLAINT I have is the poor lock on the upper two doors. The slide bar for locking BARELY fits across both locks (it can't cost too much for you to make the bar longer!) so we had to add another bungie type lock. She likes her new home. Just remember to put the lid down and lock the doors well as she has gotten out twice. Luckily, she feels it is home and she stays near the cage! It could also be a little wider but all in all we and she like the new home.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Serves the Purpose

This hutch is serving the purpose for what it's meant to. I didn't put it together, but I was told that it wasn't too bad. The tray seems to stick a bit when pulling it out, but not a problem. The only concern I have is my daughter possibly not putting the "shared" latch in the middle of the two doors, which would allow one of the doors to open. Overall, it's a nice looking hutch, but haven't had long enough to know how it will hold up.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Terrible assembly

Bubbles242

I cannot put into words how horrible the assembly instructions for this hutch are. Actually, there really are no instructions; there are 4 pictures attempting to show you how to put the entire thing together. There are no descriptions explaining how to put ANY of it together and makes the assembly extremely confusing and time consuming. I see that there are other reviews stating that the assembly was easy- these reviews must either be written by Petco to make the product appealing or those customers received actual instructions. It took me several different attempts to finally get it together the right way. Besides the difficulty with the assembly, this is an okay hutch. The only complaint about the hutch itself is that it doesn't have a bottom floor and there isn't as much room inside of it as it seems.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Nice little hutch, a few small modifications

I wish they would send you a review 6 months after you've had something instead of 6 days so you can really give a good review. But I like this little hutch. It is nice looking and our bunny really seems to like it. I was worried with the quality of some of the wood when we put it together. Afraid it might split, but it didn't. We only used hand tools so as not to over-tighten and make the wood crack. Our only real concern was the lack of anything to hold the removable littler tray in the hutch. We were afraid if the bunny was scratching around she would scoot the tray out and fall through. So we added a small piece of wood screwed into the front of the tray to hold it in, then we simply turn the wood knob and pull out the tray to dump. We also added wire on the bottom so she can't dig out under it. I don't know if I would leave my bunny out in the middle of winter in this hutch, but I will put a tray underneath and set it in my basement or in the barn.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

Can I use this inside for my beardie?

  1. Hello Becca1973: This hutch is intended for small animals. It does not have a floor on the bottom level and is set directly on the ground; therefore whatever animal is in it can possibly get out if it digs. The mesh measures 1" x 3 1/2" so if your pet is smaller than this, this hutch would not be recommended as they could get out of the area. Hope this helps answer your question. Thank you.

I would like to use this inside and im wondering if it have a floor now?

  1. TheeOncler - Thank you for your question regarding our rabbit hutch. Our rabbit hutches are designed for outdoor use. The lower level does not a floor, it is left open for the rabbits to have grass.

Is this okay to use for guinea pigs?

  1. TRIXIE's Animal Hutch with Enclosure in Gray/White is suitable for both rabbits and guinea pigs. Thank you!

Can I get a tray sort of thing to put this inside and hold bedding?

  1. we have decided to make another drawer on the bottom. We started with a mat down there, then thought of a shoe tray, but a drawer takes little time and will be most efficient. Plus then the bunny cannot dig out of her cage.

Does the second floor have wire flooring?

  1. The second level does not have wire flooring.

How many rabbits can it hold?

  1. It can be but only for a litle while. A small in this hutch is for 1 small rabbit, a medium is either 2 small rabbits or 1 medium size rabbit. A large is 2 medium sized rabbit, 3 small rabbits, or 1 large rabbit.

Can your rabbit or another animal dig under the run at the bottom?

  1. rabbits love to dig so it could possibly dig out

Is this hutch sold IN stores, or just online?

  1. I do not think it is in stores, atleast I had no luck. I ended up buying online and it came fast!
